Stay far away from this company. They overcharge, Underpromise and when you cancel they continue to take money and you have to fight to get only half back. Please read the reviews here and take extreme caution.

If I could give a negative review of Paychex I would. They have been deducting pension payments from our employees' paycheck every week, but did not pay the government the correct amounts. They are now deducting large amounts from our bank account to fix this, with no explanation as to where is amount is coming from and no breakdown or details of the amount. They take 3-4 weeks to come up with a response to any question you have even though they say they will get back to you in 10 business days. Their responses are horrible ... read more

STAY AWAY! Too many mistakes over and over again, and we are only a four-person team! We have two people with the same first name, and Paychex continuously pays the wrong person. When you give them instructions at the end of the year, say for bonuses... EVERY year, there is a mistake. It BLOWS my mind that they can be so sloppy with someone else's paycheck.

Worse company, fradulant charges, terrible customer service managers, unresolved disputes, holding taxes, unapproved 401k for per diem employees, no contact with so call account manager, never answered phone, constant change in account managers, closed account and company is still trying to debit fees out of my checking account. Won’t release account information. Totally unacceptable service and fees. Long hr wait to speak with representatives, always transfers to other departments and manages who are never in. I will add to all the negative reviews on Paychex. We had 6 account managers in one year and in 2016. They collected my third quarter Federal taxes from our bank account, but never sent them on to the IRS or filed the appropriate paperwork. We had no idea that occurred as that was what they were paid to do, based on our agreement. In 2022 we get a demand letter from the IRS stating we owed $55,000 for the 3rd quarter of 2016, plus interest and penalties. I would leave zero stars if that was possible. My payroll was supposed to be processed a week ago but was not and I was not notified there was an issue. I called the following day and was told it could be because of a new hire but they weren't sure why. I had to write a manual check for my new employee and agreed to direct deposit for the other two employees (me being one of them). The money was withdrawn from my account but never deposited into the employees' accounts. I called yesterday and was told it's my responsibility ... read more

Horrible service - they missed my payroll deadline few times and messed up my employee pays last time! When I wanted to cancel, I wasnt able to get a full refund for more than 6 months! Can you imagine? They also kept bugging me almost weekly with 1,000 other products they wanted me to buy from them... The worst vendor I have ever worked with

Wish there was zero stars. Switched to them Jan 1, 2023, will be switching again Jan 1, 2024 despite how horrible switching payroll companies is. They failed to file/pay our state taxes in Q1 despite taking the money out of our payroll. I've been battling them since May 2023 to get them paid/filed with the state. Here we are at almost year-end, and still not filed. At this point I'm going to file/pay myself, and then my lawyer can discuss with Paychex on getting our $$ back. Stay far away!
