Dr. Schultz is awesome! She took the time to examine AND explain the procedure (tooth removal & dental cleaning) for my beagle. He had an abscess on his back tooth and the infection was coming out of his eye area. The Dr. explained there was nowhere for the infection to exit except through his sinus cavity (YUCK!). The staff is super friendly and helpful. The vet is kind and puts things in such a way that even the most common idiot (which is me!???!) to understand. Today my son and I found a dog how almost got hit 2 times we took it to companion because his paws were bleeding the lady and the front desk took us in a room right away gave the poor dog some water and scan him for a microchip thank good he had one and they were able to reunited this puppy with his owner I normally take my dogs there and always had a great service and today it was not a exception this people are so caring and had so much compassion the I recommend this clinic to any one thanks companion

I had a great first experience at the Companion Pet Clinic (NE Portland) when I took my cat there recently to have her teeth cleaned. I had been told by another vet that my 9 year old cat had gingivitis, but I put off cleaning for almost a year not only because of fear of anesthesia (which in very rare cases can trigger complications or even death) but because of the huge cost of dental cleaning for pets. My old vet (whom I left for other reasons) had quoted me $700+ for cleaning, not including extractions! Companion Pet ... read more

Great because you don't have to make an appointment, but not so great because just like an urgent care there's often a wait. I can't fault someone fro not spending a ton of money on decorating, but if you're expecting something more like a medical facility it just doesn't seem as clean. The vets are great and so are most of the techs. The one receptionist that's always there could use an attitude adjustment but other than that the atmosphere is okay.

Honestly, I am surprised to see some bad reviews for this clinic, because my experiences have been very different. I brought my cat Bosco in last Oct. for possible UTI issues and Dr. Mathis went above and beyond my expectations as a vet, to figure out what was wrong. On a clipboard, the Dr. gave a list of recommendations, but explained that these were merely suggestions for overall care. Just leaving here after a visit and had a great experience. We were seen quickly on a walk in. This was for an out of own visiting dog that had a recurring issue arise . Doctor saw us quickly and diagnosed and prescribed same and additional medication as last occurance in Florida . I would def come back As for other negative reviews (and really only reason I'm and back into reviewing ) I imagine they are talking about another location or like many reviews that you can't trust , they are just complainers .

I found this while googling my veterinarian...because I just saw him and thought, "Damn. There's a guy who has found his calling." I'm not really a write-a-review kinda gal...but I love Dr. Mathis like a dog loves, well, Dr. Mathis. Great clinic , very nice and caring people. I have been going here for ten years. The office staff are nice and friendly. The dpctor was very patient and understanding, even though my cat freaked.he climbed up the blinds , he knocked over the scale.he hissed and growled. Have read on here where some places won't let you go back with your animal and won't deal with animals who are panicked. They presented me with two different options regarding price.
