I exchanged it for a hand help unit and that one has a great display but it eats batteries This is my third Brother P_Touch and my last. This unit's display is so dim you cannot see it. I exchanged it for a hand held unit and that one has a great display but it eats batteries. Even when the unit is powered off it eats the batteries. So I wrote the CEO, Mr. Toshikazu Koike, and three months later no response. It's one thing to produce inferior products but to ignore your customers is not acceptable in my book. Smart Idea on there part The Labeler works ok but it leave's a long tail both in front of and behind the printing. Only one side of label can be shortened the other side has to be cut with scissors . There for you end up using way to much ribbon. They make more money of the ribbon than they do the labeler. Smart Idea on there part, otherwise it works ok.
Watch out for cartridges jamming up Is this a joke?? The ribbon started coming out after the second label I made. Once the ribbon comes out, I learned after about an hour of struggle, there's no way to fix the cartridge (they cost $10 each). I already spent money on this plus an AC adapter ($8) , so I'm willing to give it another try by buying a new cartridge, which costs as much as a whole labeler (I paid $10 for it also). But if this happens again, this thing is going straight to the garbage because I don't have time to me... read more
Junk Very frustrating product. I won't get into pros/cons of the device. In all fairness, there's a learning curve with all of them. I'll just point out two major flaws that make me regret investing in this. All having to do with something basic...like power! 1) If you leave the batteries in it, they'll be dead the next time you want to use it. The first time I figured it was my mistake, maybe I left it on or I bumped the "on" button while it was sitting in a drawer. After the third time of having 6 AAA batteries go dead....... read more
Too many features and none of them good. Another fine product destroyed by "progress". Compared to the Brother PT-80, this thing, the PT-D200, is a mess. Here are the problems with it: - Unnecessarily complicated. Does anybody use or need all those silly formatting options? - Battery hog. This thing runs out of charge quickly and is clearly draining the batteries while it sits unused on the shelf. - Doesn't work with standard 9 volt power supply. I work with electronics regularly and also design circuit boards, and this thin... read more
Lemon Maybe the one I received was a lemon, but mine stopped working a little over a year after I bought it - after approximately 10 - 15 uses.
Not a good labeler This is terrible label maker. I have had other label makers, and this one is designed to just waste your rolls of label, so you can keep buying those expensive rolls, which cost more than the labeler itself. It's totally a joke. It takes too many batteries as well, and the unit empties the battery juice in a very short time. This is just designed to cost you lots of money to operate.
One Star Poor customer service. Don't buy!
Don't waste your money on this unit- The font & size ... Don't waste your money on this unit- The font & size stuck, so no matter what I did, I could not change it- I downloaded the manual, and there was no information as to how enlarge the font from its microscopic size, and it indicated it was on "large"- The other thing is that it leaves 1" of blank tape on both sides- A waste, and not very cost effective as the tapes are not cheap- Definitely look for another model! I had an inexpensive hand held labeler for 15 years and... read more
