Buy it if you need something for simple jobs Nice package, good price, good speed, nice features, but eats a lot of blank tape

Eats Batteries I bought this back on Black Friday 2013 for less than $10. It works and does what it is supposed to do and that is make labels. The primary con for this is that it goes through batteries like crazy. Even if you don't use it the batteries still drain very quickly.

I just printed two 5 inch labels and wasted a total of six inches of tape Well, I found out for myself just what others have complained about. I just printed two 5 inch labels and wasted a total of six inches of tape, 3" each. The only way I found to print separate labels with different names is to make the label length long, type in a name, space 3 to 5 times, then type the next name, and so on. It's a hit and miss way to have to do it. For the next time, count the spaces needed and compute the length needed. I guess the ol... read more

I kind of wonder if Brother owns a battery manufacturer This SEEMED like it would be a great purchase - we bought 4 for work for travelling techs, and have noticed that they can't seem to keep a charge. I tried another brand of batteries & it seemed to last about 2 weeks longer than the previous ones we were using, but otherwise no change. YAY for progress...

Worst Brother Labeler EVER!!! Eats Batteries Constantly I own several Brother P-touch labelers, and find them a useful and amazing product. I purchased this one for the garage as I was always running up into the office to generate a label. From the description and my experience with other units it seemed like the right choice. The product is fatally flawed. I put six brand-new AAA batteries in it only to have them go dead in a matter of days after having printed only two or three labels. I assumed they were poor batteries so... read more

Works well but wastes too much tape at each end It prints well. Tape holds when fixed to surface. My daughter loves using it to label her school supplies and to organize her filing cabinet. It does waste quite a bit of tape before and after print area though.

battery drainer, tape waster It's all true, this thing eats batteries like no device you ever saw before. If you go a couple weeks without using it, even after printing just 1 or 2 labels, it will be dead. I started pulling the batteries after every print job. I have a P-touch 1000 that also takes 6 AAA but lasts a very long time between changes. An obvious design flaw and poor execution Brother. Yup, also the leading and trailing tape is excessive waste. The 1000 is less wasteful. Solution: plan out your labels and print th... read more

Major battery problem I bought the D200 October of 2013 and can confirm that it drains batteries way too quickly. It appears there's a flaw in the design or in the battery contact parts. I changed the eight AAA batteries twice without hardly using the labeler in between and got the 'Batteries Dead" message. Also I played around with putting back the same batteries to see if the contacts were the problem but no the batteries are dead. I rarely complain about products but this is a clear problem. And now that I read the other ... read more
