Excellent label output, with very nice Mac interface Roughly half the size of a cereal box, the PT-D600 quickly was set up both as a stand-alone and as a PC connected label maker. I tested the unit with my MacBook Pro after installing the P-Touch Editor, which is available from Brother's website. I also installed a firmware update, 1.01, using the Brother updating software and the provided USB cable. I tried out the label maker using several tape types, including one that provided white print on a lime green background, and ... read more
Hello my name is P-TOUCH I don't know if *everybody* keeps a P-touch around somewhere to label random things or just mess around with, but they certainly are nice to have around when you need them. The question is, is it worth the expense to buy one of the big ones, or are you better off with the cheap $30 model you can keep in a junk drawer? The PT-D600 is nothing if not versatile, that's for sure. It has a decent selection of built-in fonts, most of which are approximations of better-known fonts (Helsinki = Helvetica, Brus... read more
Prints as crisp as a triple-starched shirt What a fantastic label printer, and so easy to use! We were printing is less than five minutes after opening the box... not exaggerating. So far, we've just used the printer directly rather than hooking it up to the Mac. At this point, I don't know why I'd need to connect it to a computer, as it's fully functional for my purposes as a stand alone. My youngest is making labels for Christmas presents as I type this. This is a great value in a small footprint, high quality label printe... read more
Screen Broken I just opened this printer and the screen is broken. Now it's past my 30day mark and I'm stuck with a broken printer.
Annoying interface, designed to waste label tape by default The labels are good enough in the end, but you have to mess with the settings every time you plug the thing in to avoid blowing through 3 times the amount of tape that you need. Brother is shady, if you buy this at least buy cheap off brand label tape so Brother doesn't benefit as much from their scam. I recommend a different label maker
quit working! I got this 5 months plugged it in, it turned on. Did not use. 5 months later it does not come on at all not with power cord nor batteries. What a disappointment as I am moving and really need it NOW.
NO linux drivers/documentation Despite Brother providing Linux drivers for all their OTHER printers, there are no Linux drivers for this printer. If you do a web search for this, the search summaries for Brother's own website will show Linux as a supported OS in the page descriptions, but when you go to the actual product page, the Linux information is GONE. So this printer is completely useless, as I already HAVE a PT-D400, which works perfectly fine.
Screen mostly stopped working Screen stopped working within a couple of months. Very disappointing.
Screen appears to be bad The screen looks like theirs oil in it. We've had several of these over the years and this is the first one we've owned that appears to look this way.
