Junk!!! Jamming up piece of junk. Made one label with $20 worth of tape
Not Compatible with TZ Tapes! I researched this and purchased this unit PRECISELY because I had an older P-touch with several tapes (which cost more than the unit itself), since it supposedly could use them. The Brother website claims that the TZe tapes are identical to the TZ tapes except that they are more environmentally friendly, and that both will work. That is not true. You'll only like it if you haven't used a PT-1810 Was looking to replace my old Brother PT-1810 label maker so I figured I'd upgrade. What a mistake. A rediculous number of options you'll never use so you have to go through 4 or 5 steps to do what you used to be able to do in one or two. Their new less expensive label maker is no better and the fonts don't match my old label maker. The worst thing is that it doesn't remember settings and defaults every time you use it so you have to set things up over and over and over again... read more
Poor interface Can't believe manufacturers are still using the old fat USB connectors. If you lose the cable, good luck finding another. Also the software is really poor. Unfortunately, this is still the best product on the market, which is why I'm emphasizing with one star that Brother should make improvements. It's frustrating there is no competition to this.
BEWARE: This will not use TZ tapes, only the new TZe tapes, a complete ripoff by this company. My old printer burned out, and I thought I was getting one that was compatible with my tape inventory, but I never noticed that tiny little "e". I'm not happy. This should have been pointed out. I guarantee I'm not the first to be burned by this. These tapes are ridiculously expensive, I live abroad, and cannot easily obtain them; they are outrageously priced.
Jams and issues right out of the box Horrible. Upon receiving, it would only successfully print one in three times. 2 out of 3 times it would wad up and jam instead of coming out. I don't have time to mess around with it and will be returning it for a cheaper, simpler unit.
Warning: Older TZ Tapes Cannot Be Used on This Device My quest started with an attempt to get an older Brother PT-2500PC label printer to work on a Windows 7 PC. It had provided yeoman service on an XP machine, but there was simply no way to get it working in the newer OS for lack of driver support. Clunky to use. Interface(screen) to small. Too much trail and error Took me month or more to finally get the PC to work w/label maker. Printer driver conflicts with HP printer. Using it by itself, the screen is not enough characters showing at one time to make using the maker efficient. So many underlying commands to have to remember if you don't use it that much.
