Limited software for Macs This is the perfect label printer if you are a Windows user, not so much for Mac users. I gave a low rating because the listing makes it seem like there's no difference. There are 2 software packages. One is to create labels, and print them when printer is attached via USB. The other is to transfer label files between computer and printer. Will not turn on when on battery power Only turns on when using AC power. Tried a number of times using fresh batteries but will not turn on. Screen flashes for a second and then goes off. Very irritating.
Frustrating! The backing is almost impossible to separate from the printed tape.
I Will Never Buy Another Brother Product I purchased this labelmaker about 19 months ago. After figuring out how to use it, I put the unit in a padded case and onto a shelf where it sat until today (April 19, 2022. I took the unit out to print labels and it had a distorted display and the keypad was dead except for the power button. Waste of tape for one word, large print, tape too wide, should have returned it sooner Machine prints too large of area waste, made a few labels before running out, what a waste of tape to print one word.
Poor instructions out of the box Got this to organize papers by filing everything away with, hopefully, nice labels. Unit looks nice and comes with a small manual. I think one of the most important first steps is to install the cartridge. And the tiny, difficult to read manual, says "avoid the print head," but it does not show you what it is talking about. Will not install WIN10 Print Driver spent 2 hours trying every possible way to get this to install the print driver to my Win10 Pro computer. All it does is give a wrong OS error. Will not work from PC
Caution on buying TZe tape I had an older model of a P-Touch label maker (PT-530). I had many different tape sizes, some from knock-off suppliers and some authentic Brother TZ tape. The knock-offs didn't work in this new labeler and neither did my authentic Brother TZ tape. Tried to modify cartridge but didn't work. My advise is to always buy authentic Brother TZe tapes (I know, they're expensive comparatively speaking) but Brother has been losing from the knock-offs so they had to do something, IMO. Broke after a year After approximately a year of not very much use it no longer prints the labels darkly. I have a ghost like shadow outline of a letter that if you look really close you can maybe see what it's supposed to be. The rollers that push the label up into the ink are not working right.
