Red Eye Grill is in a great location with large windows to look out to all of NYC....you know you are in New York. The service was great. The room is large and inviting and the noise level is such that having a good conversation is possible. It's got a lot going for it but my Caesar Salad was boring......some of what we ordered was good and some was not so good. AND, for me, the prices did not justify the quality.....for that reason I would not frequent this location. However, I would recommend, on occasion.
lunch was really terrific...the quality of the food is fantastic...staff was super attentive and knowledgable about their menu....was really pricey for lunch for two people $158...Yikes...would not go again for lunch unless someone was taking me but it was a birthday celebration. The sushi lollipops were terrific. The New England Clam chowder was good though i wouldn't call it a clam chowder...its more of a potato bacon soup...which was good...clams were lost in there as bacon will pretty much over power anything...calamari ... read more
Chose this place based on proximity to the NY City Center. Beautiful new renovated setting and very nice staff including a warm greeting by the maitre d upon arrival. Very seasoned older crowd. Delicious seafood but extremely expensive. Be prepared. $300 for shared seafood appetizer, bottle of wine , 2 entrees, one dessert ( The INCREDIBLE banana cream pie) and coffee. Guess shouldn't have been surprised considering the neighborhood, near Central Park West and Carnegie Hall. But would have to be a very special occasion to re... read more
We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday and it was blessedly quiet. We talked for quite a while before we ordered and the waiters were fine with it. Nice atmosphere and lots of good brunch choices. Our out-of-town guests were impressed.
Consistant and delicious! Our experience of eating lunch there regularly before Encores Matinee at City Center has been great. They try hard to please - a server of chocolate with almonds for a sweet when you leave, to a choice of special rolls and bread when you sit down. The menu is so varied that there is something for everyone. We haven't eaten dinner at Redeye Grill, but I'm sure that it would be good. For concert goers at Carnegie, and theater goers at City Center, there's nothing better in the neighborhood -- especial... read more
This is the second time we have been to this restaurant, both when we had tickets to see a performance at Carnegie Hall. It is large and has many tables but the tables are separated a bit so you are not sitting right on top of everyone else. There is a bit of a din once it fills up but not so great that you can't hear the other people at your table. The waiter was pleasant, very conscious of when you needed to be done by to make the performance and was present without being overbearing. The 4 of us ordered a wide variety of ... read more
Was a suggestion by one in the group. Excellent choice. Service impeccable.
Excellent dining experience for celebratory event. Ordered a bottle of Dom Perignon to be delivered to the table on arrival, and it worked, and arranged with server to use my credit card with added gratuity so there would be no fuss about who would pick up the bill The food was excellent, and the Dover sole was especially good. Service was attentive always, but never obtrusive. The noise level is always high before 8, when the theater/concert crowd begins to flood out, but after that a comfortable conversation can be had. My wife and I dined at the Redeye Grill before a concert at Carnegie Hall. We were asked if we preferred a quiet spot and were put in a nice room at the back. Even after it filled up, it was pleasant. The service was excellent and the food was very good. It WAS a bit pricey, but I had expected that. I had lobster & crab lasagna, and my wife had crusted tuna. Both were excellent but, like entrees at most restaurants these days, came with little or no accompaniment. Of course sides could be ordered. The chocolate almond cake f... read more
