The location across the street from Carnegie Hall cannot be beat. However, the food and drinks are very overpriced. The food was good and the service was very nice. But the cost vs. quality just isn't worth it. And we are New Yorkers used to paying top-dollar for a meal.
The sushi grade sesame crusted tuna with peanut sauce is the best I have ever had. Unless you despise tuna this is a MUST! Substitute sauteed spinach for the grilled romaine hearts that come with it. Wine is expensive but a necessary accompaniment. The smoked salmon flatbread appetizer is also highly recommended. Service goes up & the noise level goes down after the show crowd leaves -- so go at 7:30 or later. Bottom line: we will eat there again!
Amazingly well trained staff at all levels and food always very good
It was a business lunch. Overall it was very good. The problem came with the bill. Two guests had asked for small side salads which were charged as Caesar's at $15.00 a piece! This is ridiculous for a small side salad to go with a steak at lunch. I was thinking I would go back - until that happened.
Excellent, attentive service; but not overbearing. Setting is elegant, but comfortably casual. Great for seafood, but that's not all on the menu. I would trust other items are as good as the seafood, but I have not tried any.
We made reservations for this reservations for this restaurant at the last minute - on a whim. Thought we'd try it. We loved it. The staff was very engaging and accommodating. The food was fabulous. I had the risotto and my husband had the crab cake sandwich. Both were served hot and just the right portion - not too much but enough to satisfy. I've been here quite a few times since it is near my office. I've never had a compliant until this last visit. I ordered the crab and avocado salad which I've enjoyed before. The reason for the "good" review and not "excellent" is that this time my salad had pieces of shell in it. It was very uncomfortable to eat the salad while having to take out the shell pieces out of my mouth.
Red Eye is a lovely, soaring space with a varied selection of food. It's great for groups and sharing. I'm a fan of grazing--small portions of several dishes to share, like creating a mini buffet. The variety of appetizers make that easy and delicious. The downside is the service. It's a bit rushed and the servers toss the dishes down carelessly, glowing the otherwise elegant experience a dineresque feel. Overall though, most enjoyable
Service was good, so was the food. Not sure my date felt his steak was worth the price. Good martini and ceasar salad.
