Excellent food and service, as always. We eat here 2-3 times a year and are never disappointed.
great place for either business lunch or dinner, or place to gather with friend(s) before/after theatre or shopping. Unflailing friendly (yet professional) waitstaff, seafood oriented menu, but not exclusively so; meat/poultry/pasta/vegan choices as well. The main dining room tends to be "lively"- but not overbearingly so. But if you want a quieter, more intimate experience- ask for the side dining room/"sun room" facing 7th ave- quieter there, most tables there are for 2.
Service after a number of visits can be slow, especially when out for a business lunch. This has occurred when the restaurant has not been that busy. Still go back because a great place which with better waiter service would be exceptional--
Went there for lunch before the theatre. The lobster mac and cheese appetizer was so delicious, but the chicken breast was a little dry. Very accommodating insofar as switching sides on the prix fixe menu; many restaurants I've been to will not change anything at all. Wait staff was knowledgeable, very attentive and efficient. I will definitely go back.
Had a very nice Christmas dinner here this past weekend. Had a reservation for 2, so when we arrived, they took one look at us and put us in a very quiet table for two. Food was great, as I like fish and my date likes red meat, perfect place for both us. They didn't rush us, although they were very busy with walk-ins.
Across the street from Carnegie Hall you will find the Dancing Shrimp of the Redeye Grill. We visited for Christmas when a Prix Fixe menu was added to the regular dinner menu. Food was delicious, but our order was ?misplaced? and our food took about 45 minutes to arrive after ordering. The manager apologized by providing tea and dessert on the house (we refused the offer of a bottle of wine). So it was a longish, leisurely dinner, but the attentive wait staff and the great view of 7th Ave at our corner table kept us from bec... read more
We may be the only New Yorkers who eat in this restaurant, but we always enjoy it. The food is consistently good, the waiters are always friendly and upbeat, and the tables are farther apart than in most NY restaurants. For a post-performance dinner after a concert at Carnegie Hall, the location can't be beat.
Good food in a vibrant atmosphere.
Arrived early and was seated promptly. Was beautifully decorated and festive for christmas. Waitress was not on the ball. Never came back for one drink order and never refilled the other. Food was a bit bland but edible. Bread basket looked inviting but was hard. Dessert was the best part of the meal. Expect to pay $100+ for two people with not drinks. Food was definitely not worth the price but the ambiance was nice. Typical New York seating so expect to be seated close to others--really close.
