My friend and I had an absolutely fantastic dinner at the Commodore last Saturday night. The lobster deviled eggs appetizer was to die for! For an entree I had the poached salmon and my friend, the smoked salmon salad. There was not a scrap left on our plates! We finished the cheese plate and a couple more of the Commodore's delicious cocktails. The menu was not extensive which I think is smart because it allowed the food to come out quickly. Service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was lively and elegant. The 1... read more
This was our first time dining at The Commodore. It was such a wonderful experience! We arrived early for our reservation, so we had a cocktail at the bar. Great hand-crafted cocktails. Our waiter, Dave, was excellent. He was attentive, but didn't push us to hurry at all. He was very informative, and provided us with excellent service throughout our dinner. We would go back again in for sure!
The renovation of the Commodore was worth the wait to experience. Great Art Deco to its former glory. Food was great, and wine list-though small-was good and well priced. Doors to the ballroom were open and on a large screen at the end of the room there were old movie dance scenes. Great touch!
Wonderful old world, art Deco ambiance. Best dining experience during our year in the Twin Cities. Can't wait to go back.
This was our first visit but won't be our last. Everything was first class and outstanding. The service both in the lounge and in the dining room was exceptional. There are many rooms to choose from so one would never be bored by the sameness of the Commodore. The elegance is simple and classic. We loved every room. The food was presented artistically and was delicious. The chef accommodated my request for a change in the vegetable offered. We were more than delighted with our meals. The only regret was that they did not off... read more
What a marvelous environment. I kept looking over my shoulder for Scotty FItzgerald. Elegant. Very period. Our waiter [Dave? Gary?] was fun and indulging and knowledgeable. The 5 of us split appetizers. Some worked [deviled eggs with lobster] and some didn't [croquettes]. But all in all, a fantastic destination experience. Will go again and next time order an entree [the pork chop looks divine].
Jennifer, our server, was awesome in every way. Every person who interacted with us was amazing and they all clearly love what they do and where they are doing it. We were so looking forward to experiencing The Commodore for dinner as my mother and I are both St Joseph's Academy alumni and we have good memories of The Commodore back in the day. They did not disappoint and we will definitely be back.
Wonderful historic restaurant in the midst of an historic neighborhood. Beautiful decor, attentive service, delicious food. Will return in the future.
We loved the ambience. It was like going back in time. The food was good and the service was great!
