We were celebrating my husband's birthday. Started with delicious cocktails in the bar then moved to the dining room for dinner. Our server, Jen, was outstanding. Very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful in understanding menu options and just outstanding service! Excellent food items as well! We'll be back!
Great ambiance and atmosphere! We thoroughly enjoyed our NYEs dinner here and will highly recommend to others. The dinner menu is not as extensive as the spirits menu but that doesn't mean the food was any less good - it was tasty! We very enjoyed the salmon tartar app, lobster deviled eggs, rissoto, beef tenderloin and pork chop. The lounge area had a more casual, hip flair about it, hence all the young hipsters sipping on their cocktails and drinks at the beginning of the night. The Commodore is a great little gem!
We had dinner on New Year's Eve and it was wonderful - beautiful restaurant, great cocktails. We wish the Commodore would have hosted some sort of New Year's Eve gala - they certainly have the space for it. Would have been a great venue for a swing/big band or something of that sort. Definitely an underutilized space. They have a beautiful room with a grand piano - a perfect spot for some sort of low key New Year's gathering. But we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner - love the ambiance!
My favorite spot for gathering with friends! Always spot on service and food. Historic location reflects the best of St Paul.
Great food and ambiance. Very noisy and difficult to carry on a conversation.
Beautiful space!
My family and I enjoy good food in a nice setting. The Commodore did not disappoint. The servers were attentive w/o being intrusive. The food was well seasoned and prepared: the portions generous. While the wine list is well organized , we were very glad to have a sommelier on hand to help us w/our choice. And who can dispute the pleasure of dining and drinking in well restored Art Deco surroundings. The Commodore does historic St Paul proud.
The BEST pork chop I have ever eaten. And I'm not a "pork chop guy." This is the best meal I have enjoyed in quite some time. All my guests enjoyed their food as well. The wait staff was great and the drinks were definitely not watered down! From the outside, it looks like an old hotel, but the inside decor is outstanding.
It's the atmosphere - like walking into the 1920s and expecting F. Scott to come through any time.. The noise level was "energetic" but that was largely due to one table of very energetic folks. but the food was great and overall it was a great evening (our anniversary) and we look forward to doing it again.
