this hospital is amazing if you have small animals. this is one of the few hospitals in vacaville that takes small animals, thanks to dr. amber behnke. she is an amazing vetrenarian who loves small animals. i recommend this place.
I have been looking for a good veterinarian for my pets for a while now. I wanted someone who would help me keep my pets healthy. I tried several vets in my area and finally met Dr. Thompson. He is a wonderful vet who will take the time to explain all aspects of your pets' care and let you make decisions about what is best for your pet. He doesn't try to tell you what to do, he gives options and explains the pros and cons of each. I think I have finally found someone that I can trust who cares about the welfare of my an... read more
I have had nothing but great experiences here, with several animals, including our tortoise! The doctors are always very thorough and kind, and the rates are very reasonable. I don't feel like they try to push a bunch of unnecessary treatments on you. They include a coupon to see them for the first time free when you adopt from the shelter. I wouldn't go anywhere else!
I have to disagree that the elderly vet is somehow incompetent. Dr. Barnes has dealt with my animals and he is fantastic. He has a calming effect on them and he really cares about them. The rest of the staff has been very helpful and calming, and I feel my pets are always in good hands. They have euthanized pets for me and have been very sincere and compassionate in the process. I have left two other vets because I didn't like the way I was treated or the way they ran their business (such as trying to schedule extra checkup... read more
My animals (dogs)have received great care from Dr. Ohr. He always follows up with phone calls as promised and he is very honest about what will work and what he doesn't think will work, but leaves the final decisions up to you. He is very aware of your pocketbook and doesn't want to drum up unnecessary charges. The front staff is friendly, caring and professional. I always get in promptly if not same day for routine things. The building is a little worn down and tired looking but I'd rather pay less for great care than mo... read more
I agree with Stephanie they are soooo wonderful here!!! I think the aspca is waaaaay worst! They are rude nor helpful! They didn't give me tags for my pups shots, rabies just a piece of paper! Everytime I walk into the animal care center they come to my baby and talk and love on her it so sweet. I really had an emergency and called them they called me right back and got me in!!! Every time I call concerned about something they always ask me questions explaining everything so well. I go every couple of months for a check up a... read more
I love Animal Care center. They have always been wonderful with my animals and correct in their diagnoses. The previous reviewer complaining about the "79 year old", well, all I can say is that man was one of the best veterinarians you could ask for - and it's too bad that some people see advanced age as a handicap. Knowing that vet as I do, I have a feeling that we are not getting the whole story here. Those older vets are golden, they don't make them like they used to.
At our first appointment, I brought my dog in for a routine check-up, vaccines (which were discussed and agreed upon), flea/tick medication, and a nail trim. After the initial exam, the staff took my dog to the back to complete the vaccines. When they returned, I was informed that they could not prescribe Simparica Trio because they were unsuccessful in drawing blood for a heartworm test. However, I was also told that during the vaccination process, they had "accidentally" administered an influenza vaccine that I did not aut... read more
I hesitated to write this updated review, but I feel it's necessary. Ever since the pandemic, the customer service/experience at VACC has suffered. I looked into taking our pet elsewhere, but all the local private veterinarians aren't taking new patients (probably because they have staffing issues, since young people don't want to work anymore), so we're kind of stuck here. What should be a simple task of obtaining rabies vaccination records for my county's pet licensing process has turned into a month-long back-and-forth ... read more
