I love Animal Care center. They have always been wonderful with my animals and correct in their diagnoses. The previous reviewer complaining about the "79 year old", well, all I can say is that man was one of the best veterinarians you could ask for - and it's too bad that some people see advanced age as a handicap. Knowing that vet as I do, I have a feeling that we are not getting the whole story here. Those older vets are golden, they don't make them like they used to.

At our first appointment, I brought my dog in for a routine check-up, vaccines (which were discussed and agreed upon), flea/tick medication, and a nail trim. After the initial exam, the staff took my dog to the back to complete the vaccines. When they returned, I was informed that they could not prescribe Simparica Trio because they were unsuccessful in drawing blood for a heartworm test. I hesitated to write this updated review, but I feel it's necessary. Ever since the pandemic, the customer service/experience at VACC has suffered. I looked into taking our pet elsewhere, but all the local private veterinarians aren't taking new patients (probably because they have staffing issues, since young people don't want to work anymore), so we're kind of stuck here. Please be careful when going to Vacaville animal care center I have been taking my dog there for over 5 years since then they have been bought out by a corporation  When I requested information about the corporate office I am told they are not allowed to give any type of information out and have become money hungry after years of expressing that I was concerned at my dog's tooth rotting it was black they did not want to take it out due to it being a defense mechanism 3 years later his bone is completely disintegrated inside ... read more

Update: Received a phone call from VACC to update me about finalizing my account. I asked the in-house hospital manager if there was a superior that I could speak to about how my account was handled and she hung up on me.

My Aussie started having seizures for which I took him to the Animal Care center. They took blood and urine samples to see if there might be a problem but none was found. At the time we were giving him Gabapentin for the seizures but it did not do the job. The doctor we visited had suggested another medication that would have worked out but they kept insisting we make another visit. By the time I insisted they prescribe the seizure meds it was to late. It's been a year since they killed my beautiful woola kitty he was only 10 & we always gave him the very best care. Woola went to the vet every 2 weeks for injections and took meds daily for all his life. We never spared a dime on his treatment. So when covid was crazy no one was seeing pets much. So my husband found this place. He took him in and he was there 8 hours sitting in the car waiting for them to talk to him about woola. Made an online appointment for puppy and they waited two weeks and then canceled because they don't want new pets. Horrid! Now I've got to track down someone so he doesn't fall behind on his shots. Rotten customer service!

A zero star is necessary for such a location with poor management, care, service, and dishonesty. These people will take advantage of your distress for maximum profit, and lie while doing it. Go somewhere else, there are places that will take care of you and your pet far better then they can.
