Although I had to wait 11 days for my dog's test results, I have since gone back for follow-up with Dr. O'Byrne who has been thorough and very attentive to my dog and I. Agreed that the fees are expensive but unless you're going to the Humane Society this is the going rate in Manhattan.
Having been to about 4 different vets in the city (due to moving), I am happy to have found this place. First, the facility is immaculately clean, there isn't the usual "vet" odor, the receptionists are great and very professional, the staff was also extremely friendly and professional and my vet, Dr. O'Byrne was fantastic, completely thorough, took time to explain everything. As everyone says, the fees are expensive, but having gone to a few vets, the fees here don't seem unreasonable. They are about market, or slightly a... read more
Wanted to mention in particular that Dr Martel has been our cats' vet at the West Village Vet Hospital and he rocks. He is conscientious, thorough, and clearly very good at what he does. I feel lucky to have him looking after our kitties.
Finally, quality, service and professional care at a reasonable price. I can't say enough about how well my cat & I were treated. From the assistants to the vets, everything exceeded my expectations. This is a full service clinic that merits 5 stars. Kudos to Dale the receptionist and Dr. O'Byrne!
We took our dog here from when he was a little puppy. The doctors are incredibly caring and thorough and helped us through a few health crises. Once, when our dog had to spend the night there, they let me hang out for hours in an empty exam room with him so that I wouldn't be too worried and even brought me snacks while I waited! And whenever our dog has had a health issue they followed up with me in the next few days to make sure that he was recovering and that I didn't have questions. The entire staff is wonderful--bot... read more
This is a wonderful Veterinary Hospital. Yes, the fees are expensive, but the warm staff and beautiful facilities compensate for that. If attentive care and personal attention toward your pets is what you are looking for, definitely come here. I especially recommend Dr. Martel.
I can't say enough good things about this hospital. My cat got very sick a few weeks ago and ended up having to have major surgery. The vet that performed the surgery was very knowledgeable with his particular problem and had performed hundreds of the very delicate surgery that was required. He counseled me on the less expensive option because it was the best long term solution for my cat. He could have easily counseled me on a different, more expensive solution that might have landed me back at the vet in the future. He a... read more
I started going here when I got a puppy based on a recommendation. The hospital is clean and organized, and the staff & vets are professional and nice. Their visit fees are very expensive compared to other vets in lower Manhattan that I called. I've seen a different vet each time I've had to take my puppy in for his scheduled shots, and I've definitely gotten a fell for who I like better. Having several vets can be a plus if they use each other as resources, but can feel inconsistent as each has given me different inform... read more
In brief, Dr. Charles Berk, his associates and the staff at the West Village Veterinarian Hospital are absolutely the best! I have lived in NYC for 6 years and have seen several vets for preventive, maintenance, and emergency care. Sure, there are many good vets who can provide the basic standard of care, but if your four-legged baby has any complicated issues, requires surgery, or you just want a second opinion, run, don't walk, to the offices of Dr. Charles Berk. I would trust him with my own life! The quality of care, ... read more
