I took my dog here when he started limping on his back legs and I knew something was wrong. They wouldn't let me come into the office because of covid, so they took him back without me and examined him and ending up taking x-rays. They told me nothing was wrong and to rest him for a few weeks and give him anti-inflammation pills and pain pills and he should be better. After a week or so he was getting worse so I called back and the vet said to continue resting him and that it is likely just growing pains... even though my do... read more
Generally average service when I'd been going here before Covid, since then you're not allowed to go into the practice with your pets. It didn't bother me initially but when my dog was due for a T-4 refill I was told he needed an appointment (that I can't even attend) so I ended up just ordering his standard T-4 dose online since it is widely available without a prescription in both liquid and capsule form. This review specifically is in regards to my experience today. I got a call this morning that my dog is due for vacci... read more

Joelle, we are truly sorry to hear you had a negative experience with us and appreciate you taking the time to express your frustrations with us while we were still functioning curbside. We have since started lifting some regulations and clients are allowed in again with clearance required. We look forward to being able to interact more with the owners of our patients. To explain, we were previously still waiting on directives from new york state to open us up and and were also following guidelines previously set forth by bo... read more
If you want your pet treated properly, DO NOT GO HERE! Save your money for a practice with decent customer service and some bedside manner, not to mention thorough care for your pet. To keep it as brief as possible, this practice failed to diagnose my dog correctly after two separate visits and over $500 spent, to give me no clear direction and a false negative on a fecal test. I trusted my gut and took him for a second opinion at another practice, who immediately took much more care and time in learning the background, doin... read more

Hi Maria, we are sorry to hear you were not satisfied with your pet's visit. We aim to provide the highest quality of care to your furry friend and are saddened that you felt otherwise. Someone from our team will be contacting you shortly.
Do not tell anyone at this practice that you have a mental illness. They will change their tune on you real fast. I used to love these people so much. Now they dismiss whatever I say. I will be taking my epileptic dog elsewhere from now on. Update: The response below is a lie. This practice has yet to take responsibility for their actions. I don't need an apology for my feelings.

Hi Katherine, We are very sorry to hear that you feel this way. We tried to reach out to you via phone and email to gather more details as to what occurred that resulted in feeling this way. We take this very seriously and would truly like the opportunity to understand and learn in how we can do better. It is understood that right now, you do not want to discuss this any further. Should you change your mind, please contact us.
I took my Pomeranian to see Dr. Smith to do a chiropractic treatment on her back legs, which lost some mobility due to a spinal injury. I spoke to him over the phone, and he said he was going to run an instrument along her spine - not typical. When Dr. Smith was done, he told me my pup had a problem with her right paw, and prescribed a pain killer. This is despite the fact that she recently saw another vet a week before and he never mentioned it! I was also suggested to buy an expensive fish oil supplement. When I asked... read more
To be clear this review is not meant for the veterinarians on staff. But for the front desk/accounting. I received a call on a Saturday about my appointment on wed. I needed forms and a deposit filled out. The women emailed me the forms to be filmed after we spoke. An hour and a half later I receive an aggressive voicemail about not receiving the paperwork and deposit yet. It's Saturday afternoon! Didn't know it was that immediate. Especially when I confirmed my appointment the previous day with someone else on... read more

Thank you for providing your feedback and letting us know about this issue, Todd. We set a high standard for ourselves and are truly sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. Thank you, West Village Veterinary Hospital
We brought our 8 week old puppy to West Village Vet the day after we adopted her - our breeder required a vet visit within 4 days and we were flying with her that week so we needed a health certificate. We saw the good reviews online and they were open on Sundays so we thought we'd give it a shot. We mentioned to the vet that our puppy wasn't eating much (but was still eating something), but that we had her for less than 24 hours and the breeder said this was likely to happen. The vet proceeded to scold us and tell us how ho... read more
If I could give them 0 stars, I would! Until last year, we'd been going to West Village for years. Even though we have moved to midtown & WVVS location is no longer convenient for us, we decided to stick to Dr O'Byrn. However our experience last year was not something I would like to repeat. The front desk staff, Melissa was downright rude. Clearly nobody told her what customer service entails- talking to people in a respectful manner. It was my first time getting the paperwork done for our dog to travel to Europe with us... read more
The front desk supervisor and majority of the receptionists are incompetent and unprofessional. They constantly scheduled incorrectly, was unfamiliar with vets' schedules and invoiced incorrectly which resulted with my insurance not reimbursing as expected (an issue I've only experienced with this place) and they were rude and defensive when having to correct any of their mistakes. And they get the lowest 1 star...because the supervisor had the outlandish audacity to be annoyed by my multiple appointments! I need to only foc... read more
