I like this place. We have been bringing our dog here for several years now and over the past year she was diagnosed with a pretty serious heart condition. She takes numerous meds daily and we are here more often than anyone would want to be at the doctor, but the staff is always very friendly, both in person and on the phone, and the doctors really do care. I'm sure there are places that don't cost as much, but I don't mind spending the money for the quality, convenience, and piece of mind that we receive with the care th... read more

Dr. O'Byrne has been apart of my cats life for a little over 3 years now and as long as I live in New York, she will always be his vet. She is very compassionate and had their best interest at heart. Procedures can be quite expensive, but she only recommends the necessary to rule out any possibilities that may occur. Having a cat with an immune problem that causes random symptoms, Dr. O'Byrne was very thorough in researching the possibilities of the cause and treatment for him. My cat is still not 100%, but at least we fou... read more

I. Love. This. Practice. I've dealt primarily with Drs. Martel and O'Byrne -- both brilliant veterinarians, and so, so kind. The nursing and admin staffs are great too. One of my cats was FIV-positive and had a variety of health issues during his 13-year life, and WVVH helped us through everything, including the successful resolution of some very tricky conditions. We couldn't have kinder or better care!

My dog came here from the Seaport location to get a last minute scheduled surgery to remove her kidney. Not only did they save her life they were so sweet with me visiting her everyday. They set up an entire office with a pad and wee pad for her to hang out in while I visited for what seemed as long as I liked. I got to see her right after surgery in the back while her IVs were still in and she was coming out of the anesthesia. I was so freaked out for my little Daisy and I was so happy she was in such loving care and my vi... read more

I had just moved into a new place downtown with my two kitties, when one of them suddenly became ill on a Saturday night. There was vomit everywhere and I didn't know which one was sick. I frantically began calling around the next morning. Several vet's offices were already booked, and many were closed. West Village Veterinary Hospital was immediately sensitive to the fact that I am an obsessive, overprotective pet parent. They said I could bring in my kitty right away. The attention I received was above and beyond what I ... read more

I have been taking my two dogs to the West Village Veterinary Hospital for 13 years since my oldest dog was a puppy. I have always gotten the best, most proactive care. The nurses are excellent. All three vets I have worked with have been incredible. What I am most impressed with is that Dr. O'Byrne upon following up on my older dog's high liver enzyme, reported it on Saturday, had a sonogram done on Monday, arranged for a consult with the best surgeon at Blue Pearl on Wed, he was operated on Thursday and most likely wil... read more

Dr. Lucy O'Byrne has been our vet for my current cat Jasper and my previous kitty Josie. She is gentle, patient, kind, professional, and very thorough. We've gotten nothing but great service from her and the rest of the staff. They are always helpful if I call with questions, they do home visits for a very reasonable fee (only $85 extra for my very skittish cat who was absolutely terrified of the carrier), and they even let me pay for my cat's $1,000 dental work in several installments. They're also very nice about breaking ... read more

Dr. Martel and Dr. O'Byrne have been the MOST incredible doctors to our 3 year old black lab. From day one, Dr. Martel has been so supportive and listened to EVERYTHING we have to say and truly knows our dog and her complicated medical history. I would never bring our girl anywhere else! We have been to several other animal hospitals when she was repeatedly sick and no one was able to figure out what was going on or how to make her better... that is when a dear friend recommended West. Village and we have never looked back. ... read more

The West Village Vet staff is extremely courteous and professional, their facility super-clean, open and friendly. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes before my pet gets seen, which is a big help with pets that don't like to go to the vet. I've been taking my pet to Dr. Burke for the past year and I've never had a better experience. He's friendly, puts you at ease and really takes the time to explain everything he's doing and that he'd like to do. When my pet required medication and other intensive treatments, he ca... read more
