It’s needed to keep it running efficiently, could not even buy it separately or it costs too much where it’s better to get another or different competitive brand that is more efficient and inexpensive

Me Likey! We have a smaller (10,000 gallon) pool with a screen cage over it, so we don’t really get a ton of debris. However, we do get some sediment sometimes. This little guys cleans all that up in a SNAP! Wanted this one before and ended up buying a cheaper star-shaped one, only to return to this one. Very glad we did.
