Best out there! A top quality cleaner!
solid, heavy compared to Hayward, running great Just got it running; it's a little bit complicated to switch out an old Hayward for this thing, but they included adaptors so a normal hose will work. Reviews point out that the hose doesn't hold up; as long as I can use my old one, we're good. Ordered the leaf-catching attachment, pretty simple, I expect it to reduce my "pool-guy" duties significantly. Recommended by a couple of experts I know; I'll update if it disappoints.
Pine needles? Move on... If you have Pineneedles in your pool, stay away from this model. Pineneedles get inside the gears and literally stop it from turning. Also with larger leaves. They get stuck in the vacuum rendering it basically useless until you pull it out of the pool and pull the leaves out of it. Smaller debris is fine and the cyclone basket does a pretty good job.
Zodiac MX8 hose breaks easily I've had the Zodiac MX8 for a year now and I have found it to be the best pool cleaner I have had. It crawls up the walls to the surface leaving no area untouched.I live in Florida where the sun beats down on us and the pool equipment, particularly the hose that operates the MX8. Too much sun is not a good thing for these hoses. Last week two sections of the hose broke and I replaced them with the extra hose that came with the cleaner. Pool sweep My old pool sweep died on us. I started looking for a new sweep and picked his one.Unsure how it would work, I was pleasantly surprised. Works wonders on leaves and debris that falls in he pool. Would recommend to anyone that has a pool.
Great When New - Downhill From There I am on my 4th or maybe even 5th MX-8 in about 10 years. Inground pool, 30,000 gal. It works great out of the box but you can expect one good season. Problems start after that. All gears (a million of them inside) start to wear out. It starts to stall, skip, and not climb as well. No problem replacing every couple of years when it was $300 or so. Works great out of box. Large concrete pool with fiberglass lining. Works great. Only took a few minutes to assemble hose. Did not need any adjustments. Climbs walls no problem so not having that issue reported by others. Prior unit was a Zodiac M6 and this is better.
