Adequate cleaner . . .durability? Once this cleaner is set up it scoots around the pool rather well, however the rotating paddles are rather far off the pool surface as is the suction intake so that it often misses debris. In addition, the dedicated nature of the hose means that you can't use it for double duty when you vacuum (it won't fit the vacuum nozzle). I'm not sure how long the rubber tractor treads will last considering that it runs nearly 8 hours/day. I've been a Barracuda user for years and was looking for somethi... read more

Best pool cleaner so far I have had many pool cleaners. Kreepy's, ATV's, Baracuda's, to name a few. All last only a couple of years. Parts wear out, gears break, the sun rots the plastic or the pool guy destroys it somehow. My last one (Polarius ATV) was discontinued. When it died I decided upon this version from Baracuda. I have had it five months now and so far I have been very satisfied. It is very quiet, gives good pool coverage and climbs the sides to the water line. Its underside seems a little fragile so I had a talk ... read more

Best I have used thus far I have had 3 Polaris with booster pump, ( these break in some fashion yearly ), the T2 ( works greats but inconvenient to leave in the pool when no specific plans call for the pool to be cleaned), and now this. This is the best for just leaving in the pool and letting it do it's thing while the pool is not in use and then it's ready when you need it since it just runs on the normal filtration cycle. The only caveat is if you have a low flow variable speed pump, ( which I do for electricity savings),... read more

Much better than Hayward Navigator When we bought our current house the pool came with a Hayward Navigator that didn't work very well, even after I had it serviced. After reading many reviews I decided to try the Barracuda MX8 and am very pleased: it's not quite perfect but close enough to earn five stars. The two things I like most are (1) it doesn't get stuck on the pool drain, and (2) when set correctly it climbs the pool walls to keep those clean. It does struggle a little in corners because it's so wide, but it manages ... read more

Love it I bought the MX8 a few weeks ago and was nervous about some of the negative reviews but I'm extremely happy with the purchase. The last cleaner (Hayward KingRay) worked ok but the MX8 works amazingly well. I am able to reduce the daily cleaning duration by almost half. It also goes up the walls well (I didn't use the included float and I put the suction to almost 4 on the included calibration tool). It does not get the stairs much but that is a small price to pay for not having to unstick it. It has not gotten stuck ... read more

Works very well I am happy with my Baracuda MX8. It cleans my entire pool in just a few hours. The setup wasn't too back, all that is required is for you to decide if you will plug it into the skimmer inlet or use a dedicated cleaning input. It climbs the walls as advertised. For the price they should include a leaf catcher to heal keep my pumps mini-basket clear but what can you do.Two things are keeping me from giving the product a 5 out of 5. 1) The absence of a scrubber to remove algae 2) A better flow regulator, the cur... read more

Great pool cleaner I gave 5 stars, because i have never owned pool cleaner before, this is my 1st one and nothing to compare with and i'm very happy (my neighbor and friends use Kreepy Krauly), but i like this machine better. I used to hire the pool cleaning service for 12 years and i finally got rid of my pool guy. This little maching does much better than the pool guy, because pool guy come in just once an week and couple days after he left, pool turn to collect dust and leaves. With this cleaner, my pool gets vaccumed eve... read more

MX8 Excellent pool cleaner In the past 20 years we have had 2 homes each with an in ground pool. The pools are about 120 perimeter with a pebble tech surface. Until recently we have used Hayward/Arnison Navigator pool vacs. Living in Arizona our pools and pool cleaners get a lot of year round use. This review compares the MX8 to the Navigator.* Both the MX8 and Navigator are very good pool cleaners. They both do what they are intended to do well.* Suction - Both require similar amount of suction to operate.* Cleaning path an... read more

MX 8 is great This is my first pool cleaner purchase and did a considerable amount of research before buying. I was concerned based upon some of the reviews suggesting that the manufacturing of the unit was suspect. I am happy to report that is not the case! I have used the cleaner twice a week since purchasing and it is doing a FANTASTIC job. Any concerns of performance MUST be because the end user did not read the instructions to ensure the pump suction was set properly. Too little suction and the unit sits idle. Too much ... read more
