THANK YOU AMAZON! Had one of these for a few years and rebuilt as necessary. Finally got tired of rebuilding old one and replaced with new one which only worked for a few months. Zodiac tried bouncing us around "warranty suppliers" who really did not want to deal with us and would have taken weeks to repair. I understand ZODIACS position but the suppliers they recommend want nothing to do with you if you did not purchase the product through them. This is the one you want to buy! The media could not be loaded. After owing several pool vacs, I have found that the best one is the MX8. The ability to make the suction hole larger and scrubbing floor pads is a win-win!! The people that left 1 star reviews clearly did not know how to calibrate it and set the suction hole correctly. If you take your time and install it correctly it will work perfectly as shown in video. Delighted. When I purchased my house six years ago, it came with an MX8 which was already several years old. This device works great and with minimal maintenance provided you don’t get long narrow debris such as pine needles or palm fronds. The narrow debris can wrap around the axle and interrupt its operation. But it is very simple to service the device occasionally by removing a few screws to access the axle. Come for the cleaning, stay for the floor show One year + Update:I've lowered my rating on this pool sweep after a year of using it. The tractor tread wheels wore out and I needed to replace them after 12 months. $30.Then, the two 'motors' broke at the same time, requiring replacement. $86.Constantly, leaves clog the device, requiring me to fish it out of the pool, undo the eight screws holding the thing together and pluck out whatever clogged it. This is a great cleaner, I put the cleaner in my pool ... This is a great cleaner, I put the cleaner in my pool over night and by morning it is clean. It picks up small debris, and leaves, but it will stop if a small stick gets stuck in it, all you have to do is remove and it starts going again. If it does get stuck in middle of night the pool won't be clean in the morning but that is just part of cleaning it at night. Decent cleaner with some reservations. This generally works very well. Has no issues scaling the sides of the pool and the separation between this robot and the collection canister (Zodiac Cyclonic Automatic Pool Cleaner Leaf Catcher Canister) is genius. Unlike the old style polaris that carried a small bag around, this works really well. My gripes about this is if you have palm fronds, you may find that the leaves sometimes gets tangled in the gears and the cleaner just stops running.
Set it up and forget it Bought this as a replacement for the Zodiac MX6 which had worn out. This does a better job of climbing the walls of my in ground fiberglass pool that the smaller MX6 unit. As with the other it takes a while to get the suction set properly for the right speed of the unit. It is best done with two people - one at the pump valves and the other in the water with the unit and a stopwatch. But once this is done it is essentially maintenance free.
