Eh...not so great. While I suppose this does a decent enough job I found it extremely cumbersome and awkward. I had to turn 2 of my skimmers off and it went into the 3rd skimmer. I should admit I went from an extremely easy Polaris with a dedicated line to this. The Polaris I would leave in the pool when not in use. No way could I do this. I gave it 3 hours and there was still debris in my deep end. I returned it and exchanged it for a dolphin robot pool cleaner which is amazing. My 40’ pool was cleaned in 90 minutes.
Suction My pool as two skimmers and a dedicated port for a cleaner. With the standard Baracuda - G3 Advanced Suction Side Automatic Pool Cleaner application this worked fine. However this unit requires 1/2 of the available suction provided by the pump instead of the 1/3 the other unit operated on. I have to disable one of the skimmers in order to effectively operate the unit. I do like the unit and it does all the way up to the water line but I hate losing one skimmer.
Does it’s job very well. This auto pool vacuum works well. This is the second MX8 I’ve owned in the past 10 years. I rebuilt the first one with various parts I bought from amazon. It’s easy to repair. All parts are inexpensive and readily available. Mine stays in the pool almost all the time so it finally just needed to be replaced. Very happy with this unit! I’ll probably buy another one in ten years again.
4th Cleaner in 4 Years I've had it running for only 3 days, but it seems to be doing the job. I have tried so many different cleaners and I've all broken down in about a year! I'm not very handy so fixing it was not on the list of things to do. I am hoping this one at least last a couple of years!
A great pool cleaner with a lot of suction It's been in the pool for 2 days and it's working quite well. It does go up the sides as well. The only thing is that we have a leaf catcher that was attached to our previous cleaner and it had to be made to attach to this one. It's working fine. Zodiac does have a leaf catcher that can be purchased. Also, because of the amount of suction needed, the outflow water deflectors come off in the zodiac and have to be taken out. It really cleans the pool!
Don't buy if you have leaves We typically don't have a lot of leaves so for months I've been really happy with the unit. It picks up most small debris fine and keeps the sides clean. I've had intermittent where we get a small piece of landscape bark into the pool and it brings the unit to a halt. Ok, I can accept small wood = bad. We recently had a big windstorm and we got some stray leaves into the pool. This is the units kryponite. Terrific at cleaning pools. I bought this product and have been extremely pleased by the way it works . It was easy enough to install for those of us who are challenged by anything mechanical and has been very effective. It travels the length of the pool spinning in multiple directions and climbing walls with ease. The tracks on either side make it easy for the unit to climb. I am happy with this purchase and would recommend it. Bill
Decent Unit for the price. Works well, with added modification. Make sure you check the unit clean out the periodically or will stop in place, spin its wheels, fail to crawl. To help this problem, we spent an extra $75 at a pool supply store, for the Zodiac Cyclonic Leaf Canister, Amazon sells for an extra $52.95....and is worth every dime.....Zodiac has taken care of most of the stall problem, but also need to clean out at least once a week....EASY CLEAN!!
Ad said "used-Like New." Not even close. Poor suction. Everything (yes, everything - every hose, the unit itself) was scuffed and scratched. I tested the number of rotations of the wheels as instructed to determine if it is operating properly. The only way I could get the proper suction is turn up my pump to high and not use the Flow Keeper valve. That increase my electricity usage a lot. I will see how it works for a while.
