If you miss the 90’s, you’ll enjoy this scanner! Purchased after the strong review on Wirecutter, we found this scanner to be hard to set for networking, old style and useless instructions, and with little online support. We were disappointed to learn it can’t handle receipts and thermal paper but we were going to stick it out and try it if we couLD EVER get the WiFi to work. When we finally reached Brother, they were not helpful at all and said they would overnite a USB-C cable to help us diagnose the problem with the unit.... read more
it doesn't include a cord to attach to computer The package did not include the specific required cord to attach to a computer. This was not included in the description when purchased. The needed cord is an odd rather than common cord. This Is ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS !!! Considering this company's reputation etc it is unacceptable!!! Better they should have increased the price a few dollars rather than not include it.

Worked for about a week This thing worked great for about a week, then refused to connect to our wireless network. The documentation is extremely limited and normally assumes you have the 1700w model. Currently looking into the return policy.
Useless... don't buy. Getting this to work with wifi took a scientist to figure out. Does not even come with the cable to connect to your PC. You will need a cable connected to your PC to make it work otherwise it just sits there and act stupid. It doesn't scan properly and often chews up a page since paper never sits flush in it. Do not buy this, you have been warned!!
Jams Jams. Dont buy it
A great little scanner I use this scanner to digitize documents, directly onto a USB drive plugged in the back. Didn't install any software or connect it to the network - none of that, it's air-gapped from anything on my network, and it does exactly what I need it to do: scans documents to PDF. It has so far been able to automatically (and correctly) detect 2-sided documents, and scan quality is good for my OCR solution to recognize and index the contents. Money well-spent. Should have bought it a long time ago.
Destroys documents I am actually afraid to use this scanner anymore. It has mangled so many documents that I've tried to scan. Cute, takes up very little space, seems like it should be wonderful, but it it terribly unreliable. I watch with horror as I see something I'm scanning start to get pulled through crooked and forced up against the side of the scanner until it rips. Then the machine stops and tells me there's a paper jam.
Horrible Does not work wirelessly; does not automatically connect each day, even if hard wire connected to the computer. You must turn the scanner on and off every single day, multiple times, to make it scan. Not worth the money. So frustrating.
