One Star It jams very easily
Unreliable and too costly to repair. Used the scanner sparingly over a period of about 2 years and it worked fine. Then it started producing pages that are completely black. Brother Customer Support was very responsive, but following their advice did not solve the issue. When the attempts to solve the issue were exhausted, they replied stating that I could have it repaired, or replaced with a refurbished unit for a cost of $200. The scan quality is great, but it jams very easily The scan quality is great, but it jams very easily. It needs additional guides to help feed the paper into the device. In addition, the network sacnning feature is not compatible with the new Mac OS. Disappointing.
I wish it didn't suck in at lightning speed causing so many jams. I will add video if anyone wants to follow up. I bought this scanner as bestbuy and regret it. First review I've done on Amazon where I didn't actually purchase the product on Amazon, so take it on faith. I love the interface and options for where to send scans, etc..., but one out of three scans I have performed end up in a jam. Complete Piece Of Junk Does Not Scan! Very disappointed. Spent 20 minutes getting the software installed. Was annoyed it took that long. Finally get it all hooked up and press the scan button. And it says scanning for several minutes then goes back to the scan screen. I got to scan a few pages, but it was like pulling teeth. The it gets jammed and its all over. o more scanning for YOU! Avoid this one! It is being shipped back to Amazon.
OFTEN Picks up more than one sheet of paper! UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2018: I've had this unit for 3 years now. DO NOT BUY! Every time I use it I get angry. It hasn't worked right from the start. Almost always have trouble with multiple pages going through the scanner at the same time. If the document is any more than 2 pages, it takes a major amount of babysitting and re-scanning to be sure you have scanned all pages correctly. I wish I had spend more money and bought a Fujitsu. Only worked consitently for 2 months, now will not work. Three months after purchasing this scanner, it no longer works well. It was scanning great initially, but now pages will not feed, and/or will not scan. We have it connected directly to the computer so it is not a wireless issue. Sometimes it will work again after we restart the scanner and computer...but sometimes not. I have updated to the latest firmware but that does not solve the issue. Horrible experience, having trouble from the day 1 Horrible experience, having trouble from the day 1. It had issue using wireless, now I can not even scan a page with wire!!!!
Could be better for the price Ok for the average home office paper scan, I guess, but poor resolution. Not good to scan photos. Really could be way better for the price. I returned mine due to poor resolution.
