Paper jams This scanner gets a lot of paper jams and even when it doesn't have a paper jam it rips the edges of my papers. It also scans the papers diagonally. The scan to email feature is very convenient but it is very frustrating to constantly have paper jams.
Too expensive for what you get If you want to send the documents directly to the cloud, this scanner is very slow. Also, it ruins your pictures by putting lines in them!!
Great Scanner, Worthless Software In short, great scanner with outdated software that makes it difficult for people to use. If you buy this, plan on needing to buy other software or download opensource options. Although the scanner itself is great, the software and documentation are a complete disgrace. Failed to deliver on key features This printer did not do everything it was advertised as being capable of. 1. Scan to FTP did not work. 2. Scan to CIFS share worked for some shares, but not others 3. Linux drivers did not work for headless server Setup was extremely complicated and very frustrating. Software was very slow and frequently unclear.
I can't tell you how many hours I've wasted trying to get this piece of junk to work Don't Buy! It's never been dependable. It says "scanning," but it doesn't do ANYTHING - MOST of the time. Good Scanner, Fails to scan over WiFi constantly. There are a couple good things about this scanner. I like that it's portable, does duplex scanning in one pass, ocr. The biggest problem with this scanner is the WIFI. It's very weak. I bought this scanner with the intention of using it to be able to scan documents as we go through mail in our house. Great at first I was pretty excited about this purchase after first receiving it. We have several other brother devices and all work well. This scanner worked well for the first couple of weeks, now it consistently pulls 2-3 pieces of paper at a time when trying to scan. Unfortunately I went to go return the product and am 1 day out from being able to return it. I guess I will have to deal with Brother on the warranty side......
