I saw Dr. Kotlus yesterday for my surgical follow up. He said I’m healing really quickly and well. I had maybe 2 days of purple bruising, it’s all been faded yellow. I did take Bromelain 2x a day and Arnica 3x day starting 2 days before surgery. Had to gave up the Arnica 2 days post-op as it upset my stomach. I also was doing the cold gel pak compress every hour for10 minutes for 2 full day. Day 3 started warm compress.
My left eye, which initially was totally bloodshot and irritated is about 85% better. However, now my right eye has become red and irritated for past 2 days. Dr. Kotlus said it was due to still having some excess fluid buildup and to continue warm compresses. It’s similar feeling/look to conjunctivitis (or comparison). The warm compresses feel wonderful and hopefully are helping. Im doing them like 6 times a day. Im also using artificial tears.
The skin under my eyes has totally peeled (from the TCA peel he performed). This happened on the evening of day 4. It literally almost all peeled at the same time . Just a few tiny flakes now. I was religiously using aquaphor until yesterday. The new skin is soft and smooth and Will continue to improve. Dr. Kotlus did I can use a mild moisturizer, which I did, but the skin is feeling dry and looking wrinkly because of the fluid buildup and dryness. I ordered Neocutis eye cream. Just waiting for it to arrive. The is still some pink/redness to the new skin which is improving daily.
The fat pad transposition and fat graft look great. I have no more bags, yay! Even though there is still a bit of swelling I can absolutely see great results.
Overall there was virtually no pain. For me, as soon as I came to from the anesthesia I felt a headachy kind of pressure in my eyebrows, high is funny since I did not do my upper lids. Felt like sinus pressure/pain and i still feel it mildly. I’ve had sinus surgery in the past so it may just be my anatomy. If I were to rate the pain on a scale of 1-10, at it worst, it was maybe a 4 the day of the procedure. Tylenol helped. And it went to at most, a 2. It was nothing really. I’m a huge baby. The whole recovery was little to no pain at all. Just some general soreness and a bit achy. . Maybe a 2 at most. The actual eye irritation is the worst of I need that’s just an annoyance.
They say 10 - 14 day for recovery. I’d say at day 7 I’m in great shape.
I’m including a few progress pics. Hopefully the eye irritation clears up soon and I can put on some makeup.
