Used to walk by this place , see the word "diner" and think it was just a jumped up coffee shop. I was wrong. The food is great the staff is New York-y and full of energy, and the bar was lively and good. Just East of Times Square but the place was busy and the food was good. I would go back in a minute
Good food, no wait, and our waiter was great as well fast and courteous. We ended up going to the location on 57th street. But it was a good time.
Prices are high. There's no getting around that. But the service was quick and friendly. We had a reservation and were seated in a booth as soon as we arrived. The Reubun sandwich was huge and delicious. Definitely enough for two, unless you are starved. Same with the Chinese Chicken salad -- It was great and plenty for takehome. Friend who ordered a veggie burger also enjoyed it. And we all shared the kugel. I would go back!
A true NY experience. Like the Lindy's of yore
We came to Brooklyn Diner during super ball Saterday . The place was mobed which was a great Thing. The food was very tasty however was over priced . Double then any other place. We felt that the place was trying to push us Out. We ordered appetizers , soup and burger. All came at one time. We ask the waiter what is going on here? The food is getting cold. The answer was " we bring all the food out at one time " Did not appriciate this approach .
I made a reservation on line for Super Bowl Saturday at the Brooklyn Diner. I had been given tickets in December for my birthday to see Beautiful. At the time my friends were unaware of Super Bowl week in NYC. Anyway I made these reservations but had an uneasy feeling about being seated because of all the people in the city. Well, we arrived a little bit early and not only were we seated immediately, we were treated incredibly. Everyone from the Maître Di, to the waitress, to the server were the nicest staff we ever encounte... read more
As always, good food, and very easy pre- theatre dining.
I frequent the Brooklyn Diner before the theater quite often and usually I'm very pleased with the food. They changed one of my usual menu items though...a turkey reuben...replacing the thinly sliced turkey with much thicker and chunkier pieces. I know it may sound trite, but it took something away from my enjoyment of the dish. Otherwise, the place didn't disappoint.
We were attending a matinee, so we chose this restaurant for its convenient location. However, it is so overpriced...$50 for 2 mediocre sandwiches (only one came with fries) and a Diet Coke and tea?? That is without the tip. I am from New York, but even by New York standards, this was a little ridiculous. The sandwiches weren't even big and to charge about $20, is not right. It was also so crowded. I had made a reservation, which was honored, but the host wanted to seat my sister and I at the smallest table between others. W... read more
