I went with my 5-year old nephew after seeing Spiderman. The staff acts as if they've always known you and the food was very tasty for a "diner."
I lived in NYC for almost a decade and can't believe I never tried this place. It took until I was a visiting tourist from Jacksonville to discover this gem and learn that Brooklyn Diner (1) ties Beechers in Seattle for World's Best Mac & Cheese (and I've tried Mac & Cheese all over the world, including Japan and Scotland); (2) makes a wicked noodle kuegel; and (3) is right off Times Square--home to the Worst of the Worst in mass-produced food. It was a great place for lunch, but we payed $100 for 2 adults and 2 kids. And the kids split a meal. It's a diner, not Tavern and the Green.
Since I do not understand very well all those features (my English is not very good), I want to let you know that the food was good, excellent service...... There were the 2nd time we went to this restaurant and very glad of our stay. We will go again when in New York.
As a vegan, I had planned on ordering the vegan burger ... only to find out that it had been taken off the menu. My substituted chopped salad was very good, but expensive for the size of the salad. My non-vegan husband was happy with his entree. Our server was attentive.
Classic Brooklyn experience
Food is abundant, but so are the prices. Maybe because you are a half a block away from the center of the universe.
My mom and I shared a corned beef sandwich and chicken pot pie. Chicken pot pie was delicious. Corned beef - not so much. Very, very thick slices and chewy. Left most of it on the plate. Service was excellent. Desserts were terrific.
a great place to bring the grand kids
