We live much closer to other caring hands locations but we love Dr Vanderhoof so much that we make the drive to Merrifield for our dog and kitty. Dr Vanderhoof is kind to our animals and knowledgeable on our dogs many many health issues. The office is clean and easy to get an appointment. Plus they have late night appointments available many nights which is great if, like us, you live on the wrong side of the crazy expensive 66 toll (after 7 it's free). Highly recommend Dr Vanderhoof - we only wish he did horses too!

I've always had great experiences here and they are very caring just like their name suggests. I only wished they had a boarding area, that's the only reason I removed a star because otherwise they are perfect! They email you your records within minutes of a phone call. They call to check on your pet after prescribing medicine. You can get electronic appointment reminders. They even write your pets name on a chalkboard to welcome them to their first appointment. Someone who's been in the vet field for over 16 years, I must say. I was very impressed with this place! I just moved to Falls Church less than a week ago and my baby was having defecating issues. I called last night, 15 minutes till closing and was treated like someone who called at 7:30am. (meaning they were bright and friendly and didn't rush me so they can close the money drawers and go home) they even sent me an estimate that evening. After many years of loving our pet hospital in Springfield we had to make a change due to distance. We were very anxious making the switch because we absolutely loved our previous vet. But from the very first visit we knew we made the right choice. The staff and Dr. Richards are wonderful. Our two cats have never been happier. Dr. Richards is the best! My previous vet retired, and the doctor that took over the practice didn't measure up. I switched to Caring Hands out of convenience and location, and it turned out to be a great move! At this clinic, my dog had his tail amputated due to cancer. The whole staff from start to finish were amazing! It's not easy for human and pet to go through something like that, so having compassionate, thoughtful physicians through the process means the world. I've taken my dog here several times since I've had her (one year). I came here as a recommendation by the previous owners who had been taking Bella here since she was a puppy. It was a good recommendation. I've been really pleased with Caring Hands. The whole place is very clean and sanitary. There's water bottles and coffee(free) available while you wait and cookies for you dog. The staff is always nice at the front desk. My Goldendoodle Winnie and I have had a great experience with Caring Hands Animal Hospital and will continue our veterinarian services here for as long as we live in the area. We've visited for routine services but I was also able to make a same day appointment when Winnie became sick with an infection. It gave me peace of mind knowing that I have the option and was able to take her in on the same day, which other vets may not have done. I do like this vet very much. I especially like Dr. Richards and Dr. Madigan at the Merrifield office. I think when your pet needs more than the regular check-ups and needs special attention, going to a smaller vet is the best option. I think they really do go the extra mile here and that makes a difference. While most of the techs and front office staff have been great, the only complaint I have would be 1 individual at the front desk, "Jacob." Why would Anyone in their right mind drive 45 minutes to this vet from D.C. in traffic? Because they are that good. They have all the modern equipment so they don't make your animal suffer with a thermometer up the butt and their techs genuinely want to cuddle your furry best friend to the point that some might get jealous.
