Why would Anyone in their right mind drive 45 minutes to this vet from D.C. in traffic? Because they are that good. They have all the modern equipment so they don't make your animal suffer with a thermometer up the butt and their techs genuinely want to cuddle your furry best friend to the point that some might get jealous. I don't understand how they have such amazing availability for appointments whenever I need them but hopefully five star reviews like this won't lead to them being too busy for me. Seriously. This place is fine for routine vet services, but for serious issues I would look elsewhere. We've taken our dog in a couple of times for reoccurring digestive issues, and I feel as though the service received has just been ok and not very extensive. I also don't like that they charge you in advance for a fecal exam before you even bring back a sample. If you're anything like me, there is a 50% chance that I may not bring one back for various reasons so I definitely do not want to pay for that in advance.

Caring Hands staffs and Dr. Richards are the best. They have been very passionate and wonderful in treating my sick cat for 3 weeks and she is all better now. I thought I was going to lose her at the beginning of illness, but with support of her team, she made it through and I am very grateful! Thank you all very much for taking good care of her. The doctors are very passionate and caring which is great; however, every single time I come here a wait and wait and wait before my pet is seen by the assistant (usually 35 minutes). Once I get to the exam room I wait another 30 or more. They still aren't back yet. Granted my cat is getting xrays because they found cancer but other times it was during routine check ups. Caring Hands was literally a (dog's) lifesaver! After my (now-former) regular vet could not help my dog who had a foreign-body obstruction, Caring Hands stepped in and really went above and beyond to treat my dog (who they had never seen before), who could have been in a potentially life-threatening situation. They managed to squeeze him in for an ultrasound and were able to operate on him that same day. They called to follow up on him for 2 days after the surgery. Dr. Richards is the best. She was able to check up my 15 year old dachshund. I told her what I wanted and needed and she did it exactly. She listens to her clients and doesn't push unnecessary things to be sold. She is very down to earth and was willing to help as I needed. Will be back for sure.

Our Welsh Terrier needed to be seen- I called and was given a same day appt on a Friday. We took an afternoon appt as they were getting our vet records from San Diego and needed time to obtain them. The staff was wonderful. The reception area was spotless, didn't smell like a vet hospital at all, the have cold bottled water and a coffee machine which is nice. The exam rooms are spotless as well. About a year ago I had to put down a beloved 16 year old cat and I chose to come here. Everyone was incredibly understanding and patient, even when my cat made a mess of things (digestive issues). They respected my wish to be with her all the way to the end and explained every step as it was performed. They even sent me a card afterward. Really the best service and help possible for a terribly difficult moment.

Caring Hands has been wonderful in treating our cats. We had an elderly cat with IBD, and Dr Richards and her colleagues helped diagnose and treat it. When we finally realized that the daily liquid medication in his mouth was causing him more stress and suffering than we were willing to, she recommended an ear cream as a last-ditch effort.
