I hate having to store my stuff but since I have to put it someplace I'm glad I am storing it here! Extra Space has been a gift from the Gods! ESS has been able to save my sanity more than once despite my waiting until the last minute before seeking solutions to my issues with extra stuff. Had a small unit at Extra Space for about a year. Everything about the process of signing up, answering questions, making unscheduled visits and finally, the move out all went very smoothly. We discovered water in the unit (due to heavy rains) and we were immediately provided with another unit. We had easy access to our unit, it was close to where we live, and always received cooperative and courteous cooperation from everyone there. It was a good experience.

Okay, this location gets a bit of flak in most reviews. Let's set the record a bit. 1) Best location to get a decently priced rental unit in a decent area of the city that you can get to with normal transportation. You're close the on-ramps / off-ramps for the major highways and you can usually find street parking or if you're lucky can park in the garage (space very limited). 2) The security is good. This place was the last place I checked before I started my trip to SF. It was the cheapest, the staff are very polite and business minded, friendly, The experience inside the actual storage is very clean, no drug paraphernalia laying around the facility or bathroom. Every kind of walk of life is welcome here. No complaints here. Ty Extra Space. For us your a lifesaver. ;)

I didn't have a lot of reason to interact with the staff for the month that I had things stored there (when I was unexpectedly between apartments), but everyone I dealt with were helpful and worked with me. If I had been there longer or dealt with them more I'd have more to say but everything I saw was 'A-OK' (3 stars). It did seem like there were homeless people around and probably with units there but they didn't seem like they were there to cause problems so I don't begrudge that.

I'm in the process of moving out of state and needed a storage unit to put some of my stuff that I can't bring with me in the mean time. I like the location of this place and most of the time there's plenty of parking right in front of the building or at least near it anyway. There's 2 spots where you can pull into for a loading/unloading area and it's convenient since it's near the elevator if your unit happens to be above the 1st floor. I haven't been here long enough to comment about rent increases, but I moved in recently and found the staff very helpful and accommodating-even stayed open late for us on move-in day.

Definitely recommend! The staff, especially Mark, goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful. And from what I have seen they are kind and compassionate to people in all sorts of situations. Having a safe covered space to pull your vehicle into to unload is awesome. (Although I do agree that it size and shape could be harrowing for inexperienced drivers.) The only drawbacks I saw were 1) their units come in many irregular sizes, which isn't so much a drawback in and of itself, as it makes for some seemingly inconsistent... read more

I had an OK experience with Extra Space with two exceptions. First the good: The location was convenient. Setting up the unit/account was easy. The people I dealt with on the phone and in person were friendly. Most importantly, I felt my stuff was safe and secure for the few months I needed to lock it away. Access to the unit was easy enough if I needed something. The Bad: They arbitrarily raised my rent by $10 after 3 months or so. Apparently they do this a lot. Be warned. I don't think rent control laws apply to storage.... read more
