First time visiting General Dental in Hayward on 12/31/2024. Nice location with plenty of parking. The inside is clean and welcoming, with a TV and a selection of VHS tapes that brought back good memories. The staff is friendly, and check-in was easy until I had to fill out the forms online. I tried 2-3 times on my phone, but for some reason, the front desk didn't receive it. The system was acting weird, so I ended up completing it on their computer, which was much easier. I needed a crown. I searched for a dentist that was in network. I called this office and they confirmed they were in network and took my insurance. I booked an appointment to get my crown done. The day of they pushed an e-sign pad towards me and had me sign a bunch of things. They not once showed me what documents I was signing. Just a “can you sign here please.” Afterwards I was presented with a massive bill of over a thousand dollars. I told them “You said you took my insurance, why is it this much? I went in for an exam and for regular cleaning. I just wish they could have explained everything before treatment. Guess my fault too that I didn't ask. However I have Medicare dental coverage plus Delta Dental coverage under my husband...yet my out of pocket was $500! I was shocked! Wish they had told me upfront before treatment. I won't be back. Lesson learned.
I have felt welcomed and in charge of my dental journey the entire time I was at Gentle Dental Hayward — from walking in I was welcomed, every question I had (from retainer care to gum care to brushing practices) was answered thoroughly, and I walked out knowing I am taking better care of my oral health. I'm surprised & Confused about the treatment it's my first time scheduling an appointment at this location . My understanding was most dental care family facilities offered a free X-rays and initial treatment with the insurance. Apparently this is NO the Case with THIS LOCATION I SING A BILL OVER 300 DOLLAR JUST FOR THE X-RAYS . I'M NOT PLANING TO RESCHEDULE A FOLLOW UP VISIT
