Greenhouse is a nice rehab since it used to be a hotel from the 60's. It has an indoor pool, an outdoor pool and a serviceable gym which was surprising. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. They let you use your phone and laptop once you get off detox which is good. Therapist were great. Detox was a nightmare. When I went to detox I felt as if I was on my own. Nobody approached me and explained what was going on or received me. I had to learn from other clients. Nurses don't check on you to see if your not seizing or are ok so I didn't feel safe. You have to come to them all the time. Also, men are in the same hall as women and that also made me feel unsafe. My loved one received a prescription for Depakote and 90 days of detox. Not a treatment program. He was discharged to the community right back where he left off with NO plan in place. Therapeutic activities included making posters to thank vets for their service and turning hand tracings into turkeys on which finger/feather something to be grateful for is written - grown men did these things. I have pictures.
open mind second is better than first.
Alot has changed since the first time here in 2017. It was not the same this time not experinced therapist all book no real experince in acohol or drug addiction.
The only issue I have had is the med lines. It takes a long time to get through them...sometimes 1.5 hrs. The TAs, therapists (especially Anne and Mondrea) and Staff (especially Keith, Arturo and Paul) are amazing and truly care about the care we get here. I truly lucked out getting in Greenhouse for my first (and only) rehab!
At Greenhouse it took over 2 weeks for me to meet with a therapist, they kept changing my therapist and had no idea what was going on, their communication is poor. The only way you can actually recieve any help here is you have to advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself. I finally was assigned a therapist (Nikki) and she is incredibly rude, and has an attitude problem. Counselors were great
This was a truly wonderful experience. I had no idea what to expect, but I was disappointed that insurance cut me off early. Two things I hope you address: First floor pharmacy cart needs more staffing. I always arrive an hour EARLY and can still be late for class at times, or be up way past when I planned to go to bed. 98% of the TAs are top notch but a few are overly zealous or seem to play favorites. I observed this but did not experience this behavior personally.
