Worst printer ever DO NOT BUY. YOU’LL BE WASTING MONEY ON INK. This printer is so annoying. It will randomly stop printing with ink when there is an ink cartridge out of ink. My yellow is out of ink but the rest of the colors are half full. But it tells the printer that everything is out of ink. It’s annoying because I’m just trying to print black and white. So why does yellow have to interfere with me trying to print black and white. I’ve never had an experience like this. It’s just the worst printer ever.
Awful customer service. Don’t waste your money! Lasted less than 1-year before it jammed and it could not be removed. Called tech support and the guy told me to put a butter knife in it to remove the paper. Then proceeded to tell me all he could do was send me to a certified repair shop over an hour away. So much for the 1-year warranty. Awful customer service!! I have always had brother printers and now, this will be my last!
Microchipped ink cartridge means expensive Brother Brand ink only I believe in market competition and I think it's a real crappy move to force consumers to use overpriced name brand ink cartridges. I'm not sure if the cartridges are even "dry." I can see ink in them, but wouldn't be surprised if the microchip has an "expiration date" that cause them to be unusable. It's pretty disappointing.
Used it 3x and then the print quality totally failed I was three days outside of my return window and went to print something and the printing was totally out of line and smudging. The printer hadn't been moved or even used to print more than 5 pages in total. I tried running all the calibration and troubleshooting, but printing alignment isn't corrected.
Save your money Good print quality for the price, but the money you save on this printer will be spent on replacement ink cartridges. Yes, I know that is the game we are supposed to play with home printers but Brother takes it a step further with this one. This printer doesn’t let you print in b&w/grayscale without color toner, yellow is often the culprit (I did some searching and there appears to be a workaround for this, but I just want my printer to print the 3 times a year that I use it...without the hoops.)
Apparently broken upon delivery. Jammed when we first used it. Printed a couple of times. It is broken. I want to return it .
Lacking essential features, such as modern WiFI, and an ethernet port. Small ink cartridges. Doesn't have an ethernet port. This would be fine, if the wifi was able to connect to a recent router, but it can't. Ink cartridges are small and run out fast. Overall a regrettable purchase, as others have pointed out.
Not what I was hoping for. I didn't even get to experience issues with ink I have had this device for about 3 months and have tried to use it several times with varying degrees of success. No matter what paper I use, the device will jam repeatedly. At first it was occasional, now It is all the time. Basically it's no longer usable as a printer as I can't clear the jam error message.
It cannot connected to WiFi I wasn't able to connect to my home Wifi after the unit kicks me out of it, even tech support wasn't able to help. At first, they told me that my password is too long and the unit is set for a shorter password after many attempts to connect, which didn't make any sense to me because it was connected once.
