WORST PRINTER DO NOT BUY I never write reviews but I have to for this. I purchased 2 of these for my college students and both new out of the box don't work. One keeps showing load paper I do that and press the buttons and nothing. The other printed 1 page and stopped working. I realize they are $50.00 printers But really both new out of the box.... I would never buy it again. It Showed color ink out, when prints were black print only. Poor quality, paper misdeeds and inconsistent print quality. I have owned several brother printers and those all worked fine. I have been trying to get a refund for about a month. I would Never by this printer again.
Couldn't connect to Chromebook Way-way too confusing and time consuming to set up with a Chromebook. I understood it to be Chromebook compatible, but if it is, it is not a simple process. I don't need the stress and I don't have the time to waste. After a few hours of trying to set up, I packed it up and sent it back.
Efficency I had a Brothers for 5 years, excellent machine same level as this one. but it finally started jamming . This one is junk -JUNK- noisy, NOISY small print, poor quality junk Cannon here I come.
Worst printer I ever purchased This printer performs poorly, makes lots of noise like it is printing for 2 mins, then prints only one line. I purchased it recently and haven't had a pleasant experience yet. I do not recommend this printer.
Worst printer ever Worst printer ever! Terrible print quality, doesn’t connect wirelessly most of the time with our MAC (last time it printed from the Mac it took a whole day later to spit out the copy), and will only print via usb to a chrome book. Even with the usb connected, I can’t make multiple copies. And it will randomly make it so I have to unplug and replug between each and every copy. Super annoying. Don’t waste your money.

Muddy terrible photos sending back This printer has to be the worst I have ever used. Needed to replace an older all in one so I thought this might work. A few wasted pages of picture paper later underwhelmed would be an understatement, this is terrible.
Wifi nightmare Re: Brother MFCJ491-DW: Another reviewer here called the wifi setup "hellish," and I agree. The problem is that the wifi setup routine is devoted to connecting the printer to the internet, not to connecting your computer to the printer. This is not a problem for users who need or want to use an online print service such as Google Cloud Print.
