Too much driver B.S.! It works. As usual though, there's too much B.S. with the driver's not working as they are supposed to work. But....oh well. That is why such is 'the usual'.
DOA - Return policy stinks. Could not even get past the install process. This printer screen showed a "scan" error. I spent over an hour - live with support. They agreed there was no solution. They offered a replacement BUT... I would have to walk over 1 mile carrying this heavy thing which I am not able to do. (I am a Senior Citizen. I live in NYC and am limited to foot traffic). Manual?? Didn't come with a manual which made it difficult to set up...who does that?
Printer Quality It is what it is for the money value of this printer. The print quality is normal, it doesn't dry as quick for a full page of color or b/w, needs to give it atleast 1-2mins to dry. There are two options for printing, fine or normal, I can't really tell the difference at all of those two and I know printing in "fine" mode will eat your ink cartridges faster somehow lol. By far the slowest printer I have ever had! This is one of the slowest printers EVER! With most printers you can go to your print properties and change the print settings to make the printer go faster. Not with this one, you have to go to Brother.com, print a 6 page explanation of how to change the setting on the printer itself. This was an absolute waist of money. I hate that I made this purchase so much buyer's remorse!
MFC-J491DW Brother's 3-way Printer The device arrived defective. The front panel SETTINGS button is not providing a printer setup menu. I have a technical background and have accomplished many PC device installs. I expended 12-hours proving/repeating it was not due to me. Brother's Product Support was useless for me. Cheap printer - small touch screen The touch screen is MUCH smaller than I thought. It’s hard to see and touch.
Don’t buy this This printer could only print 1 page and then jammed every time. I am returning it and getting another brand. The printing app sucked.
Be careful how you ship The product is ok but I expected it to be in an Amazon box. It was delivered on its original package. This was supposed to be a birthday gift for my daughter. She is the one who accepted the package. I tried to do the gift thing but it said the product didn't qualify. So I thought, incorrectly, that it would at least be in an Amazon box like everything else I've purchased. I'm disappointed that she found out what she has for her birthday. This was supposed to be her main gift.
