EASY TO SET UP & PRINTS GREAT I normally buy HP printers to go with my other HP products. I have owned 3, and the first of the 3 finally crapped out after several years. But I always felt I was getting ripped off on the HP ink cartridges. Even Sam's Club's prices hurt ($104 for 1 set of color and a 2-pack of black). Then I read HP has now made it harder to use other cartridges on their newest printers, and they were charging even higher prices for ink. So what the heck, try something different. This Brother printer was a pie... read more
Flimsy, poorly made product We typically purchase HP products for printer/scanner/fax, but decided to try this Brother since the salesman said that it uses less ink and is less money to start. I should have listened to my gut that when things are less expensive, it is often for a reason--sometimes you really do get what you pay for. The paper tray holds only a small amount of paper, is difficult to use and is poorly made. Our paper catcher broke pretty quickly. With that said, it does use less ink. Overall, we are not satisf... read more
Waste of Money I really tried to give this printer some time after having some serious issues during installation, but this was a terrible purchase. Not only does my computer not recognize the scanner 50% of the time, when it does it literally can take a minute to scan a single page. That is if it even scans. The majority of the time it times out. This is my first introduction to the Brother line, and it will be my last. If only I was able to return this, but the return time has already passed.
NO customer service or support--printer useless after two years The paper tray is skimpy, but this was a good printer until this a.m., when it produced an "ink absorber pad full" message and refused to print until this was addressed. I checked the website to find out what that meant and it said it was "service maintenance" that had to be done by a technician. I took the printer in and was given an estimate of $98. Really? A hundred bucks to replace a felt ink-overflow pad? Turns out they've placed that pad to make it impossi... read more
Unreliable Had this printer for about two years. In less than year, it couldn't feed in paper through the letter port which mean I could't use hard paper. Then the duplex jammed and more recently, the paper would get caught after 2-3 pages of printing. I was hoping more from this brand and printer. Will be looking elsewhere for a replacement.
Works until they want your money again.... As I'm writing this, I want to take a sledgehammer to this printer. I can't print because there "isn't ink." I have a 100% FULL black ink cartridge but I can't print because yellow is out? (which it isn't because I can see ink in the cartridge. DO NOT BUY FROM BROTHER PRINTERS....
Worst Ink I had a $40 canon pixma for a few years before it finally crapped out on me. It printed great quality though. I was in the middle of printing professional signage on glossy paper when I switched to this printer. That's how I know that the ink in this printer is no good (it's not the paper). After a couple months, the black has faded to a rusty red brown, and what's the point of having a business printer if you can't print for your business??? Wish it wasn't a huge pain in the tush to return this.
Bad Bad Bad does not hook up properly. Two days trying to make it work. Dont boy I purchased a Brother all in one printer. I have spent TWO days trying to set it up. Used their chat line, over an hour. Got there phone number spent Three hours on the phone. They finally asked to take a picture of the rollers and send it to them. I have had enough. No one seemed to know how to tell me how to set it up. I am done with the Brothers brand.
Find another one. Hard to set up wirelessly.
