Caution: Will not print in black and white if the color ink is low/out After several months of ownership these are my comments. In general, I like this printer, but be forewarned that if the colored ink runs out, it will not let you print in black and white nor will it let you copy in black and white. Doesn't Work with 5G router. Stay away This printer worked perfect for a year and then we upgraded our router to 5G and it has been a nightmare ever since. Brother tells you to print if you have have a 5G router (even if you are connected to the 2.4 G) you have to uninstall the printer and reinstall. Then it will work for about 5 minutes and no longer work again. Then you have to uninstall, reinstall. Nightmare. Stay away.
I've had this for a year and 3 months. I've had this printer for 1 year and 3 months and have used nothing but original brother ink. I cannot get it to print without bad lines going through my color prints. I've tried cleaning the head several times and the magenta does not clear. It's to the point where I am using up my color ink just by trying to clean the heads. It is ridiculous! I had a Brother printer previous to this one and didn't have this problem at all. maintenance nightmare Was happy with it for the first year or so, good enough print quality for a family printer, broad support across windows, chromebooks, linux, android phones. Easy for the kids to use. Then it started showing head alignment issues, small at first. So I went through the head alignment process, as that was an easy step on my old HP printer. 5 months in and it's already broken Bought this 5 months ago and it's already not working anymore. It won't even turn on
Poor quality printer Slower printing speed, small paper tray and frequent paper jams. It has been very unreliable from day one.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER This printer has given me nothing but trouble. Its made out of cheap plastic, its slow and if you get a paper jam you are done. What has happened now is that when I print I basically get a blank sheet of paper with some faint smudges of color.
Overstates number of pages per ink cartridge It's a decent printer. We have had it for almost two years and have only used it lightly. However, it is now telling us that the black ink is low and we have only printed 300-500 pages max. I was unable to find any information in the users manual that would explain the huge discrepancy between 2400 and 500. Customer service was no help- just talked in circles with no good explanation of why the ink is already running low.
DO NOT BUY!!! I don't know where to begin with this piece of crap. Print quality is horrendous, if you run out of one color all colors stop printing so you are forced to go out and buy the expensive ink. Oh no, forgive me, all you have to do is show your face and you get the ink for free, "NOT"! If you are one of the unlucky ones like I am and your printer gets a paper jam, look out, better fix it quickly or the color black will stop printing like mine has.
