Dead in 18 months This printer is slow. It's loud. And after only 18 months, it's dead. It says it has a paper jam but there is no paper jam. It also stopped scanning to our computer. Don't waste your $ unless you would like a disposable printer.

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A PRINTER THAT WILL ACTUALLY JUST PRINT. Bought this after frustration with a lousy Canon printer. This is just as bad. Will not print without going into numerous, not important error messages and then just might, maybe print minutes later. In addition, this printer, like all I've seen, is merely a device to sell the manufacturers ink. Constantly "running out of ink." Don't know what the answer is, but these printers are almost worthless.

Ink is cheap, so is printer. This printer performed about average for the first 1.5 years of use however this line of printers seems to have an issue with non existent paper jams. Scanner still works but printer keeps on saying there is a paper jam even after I follow the steps and realise that there is in fact no paper jam. I have read online that this may be due to dust build up in the printer. Im not a printer technician and how exactly they expect me to disassemble the printer, find the one part/sensor that might need cl... read more

Please, Brother Customer Service, I'm considering buying this printer, but a number of reviews mention this same false paper jamb problem. Is there anything that can be done about it? Your only answer seems to be that everyone should individually call support? What are they told to do?
Ink Life is the Biggest Selling Point of this Otherwise Average Printer If you do a lot of printing or hate buying refill cartridges every few months (or weeks), you will probably love this printer. If you’re like me and only have an occassional print job, you may want to look elsewhere. First there’s the setup. It took me nearly an hour from the time I opened the box until I printed a test page. After inserting the cartridges, it had to go through a 6 minute cleaning cycle before I could continue. Then the colors didn’t pri... read more
Ink nozzles clog frequently I'd rate this printer more highly if the review was just based on the general print quality, which seems very good. However, although the printer seemed fine at first, it didn't take long for the ink nozzles to start clogging. At first, I attributed it to infrequent use, but now even after running the nozzle cleaning utility, within a day or two the black will become very faint or not print at all, and I have to run a full cleaning to get it to print. Wait a day or two to print something else and ... read more
Look elsewhere I have never had a printer that was more frustrating printing a simple envelope or connecting via WiFi to both our PC or Mac laptops. I am going back to Epson.
Lots of time needed to get it to do basic things, no help from manufacturer Printed some envelopes skewed, straight only after fiddling with it a lot. Document print quality was fine, but because it wouldn't scan I reinstalled software. Windows now gives error message when trying to add this printer. Now it's unusable. Won't print, won't even fax. Was not able to obtain knowledgeable help on the phone. Seems a shame, could have been a decent printer.
Color is not good. Good printer for basic use. The ink tank capacities are really good. But, if you want any color quality at all, this is not your printer. Dull colors and after printing the same image twice, it looked like it came out of 2 different printers. Was really hoping it was as good as it sounds, but it is not. At least for me.

there's a good chance it won't pick up the signal Totally unreliable. Frequent networking issues, whether you connect via ethernet directly to your router, or place it 10 inches away from your wifi access point, there's a good chance it won't pick up the signal, if you're using modern bands/protocols. The NIC in this device is garbage, thus to save a few cents, Brother has managed to render the rest of this device a very large paper weight. The USB/SD card ports won't let you print anything expect photos, so if you intend to... read more
