My standard poodle, Henry, was recently diagnosed with a sudden onset grade 3 heart murmur. We were so upset and worried about the diagnosis and what to do next. The staff at Nashville Veterinary Specialists were ready to see Henry right on time the day of his appointment. They were very friendly, professional and caring. Our fur baby was ill and needed to be seen.. He was not at death’s door but very sick. I had to wait a few hours but while waiting in the parking lot I watched this vet emergency facility take in critically ill fur babies that needed to go before our Tango. Missy's intestines had grown inside her lungs. Our local vet recommended NVS. We were told Missy had a 50/50 chance of survival with surgery or we could put her to sleep. We opted for surgery. The doctors performed a miracle and she survived surgery The following 24 hours were critical - if her lungs expanded too fast, there was nothing they could do.
