This unit will not pick up sand. You have to buy a special fine filter which is out of stock everywhere.

I love the cordless Polaris Freedom. It does great and you don't have to worry about the cord getting tangled.

I just love the Polaris Freedom, just pop it in the pool and it cleans away. Not good in the spa but does a fabulous cleaning job in the pool.

The freedom is very easy to use and I love the fact that it is not hooked up by a hose to a booster pump. The only draw back is that it does have some issues in picking up fine dirt in the corners where the pool wall meets the floor. Otherwise I highly recommend

So far, this cleaner is amazing! I love that it can no longer get tangled in the hose! It runs for 3 hours on a charge, and completely cleans my 32,000 gallon pool. Goes up the sides, too. I got a Rubbermaid bin to keep the charger in. Easy as can be!

As I had read before buying, all automatic pool cleaners are for cleaning and maintaining an already clean pool. When opening a pool in the spring you still need to clean with the leaf bag vac to remove the large debris and vac the pool through your pool system and filter to capture the fine dirt. The robot can be used but fills to quickly and does not get all of the fine dirt. Also it does not cover all of the area of a pool surface when you see were it has passed.
