Went there with another family. When we told the server that we wouldn't be needing the wine list....he totally changed his tune. We could barely get his attention. Our overall cocktail bill had to have equalled a nice btw of wine from this place. Table next to us ordered the calamari and it stunk so bad- not a good sign. Oysters were good. Tuna steaks were average. Halibut was average. Fries were good. Forgot to bring out a soup starter. Steak was good- but not great. Kids enjoyed pasta dishes and burger. Mashed potatoes we... read more
We first dined here years ago with a large group for brunch. Now it was just two of us. We Enjoyed a pre- theatre dinner and would have been happy with dinner, drinks and service provided BUT the live music with Marissa (?) at piano made it Extra special. We so enjoyed the music that we came back the next evening for music and drinks at the bar. When back in NYC I know we will dine here again. New York as so many great restaurants - the music will bring us back to this one.
This place was phenomenal a few years back but we were very underwhelmed at this visit. The menu was pretty dull while still being pricey, even for NYC. We were there early so the noise and crowd were minimal but they filled up pretty quickly. The food was "good" at best. I'd really like to see some more interesting items on the menu and let this place get back to being the gem it was just a few years ago.
The food was fine at a recent Redeye Grill dinner, and the service was friendly and solicitous -- although a shrimp club salad came without shrimp. Still, when the error was pointed out, our server disappeared and came back with a couple of shrimp to be added. I'm not sure whose mistake it was, but it was corrected with alacrity. And the restaurant is attuned to concert times across the street at Carnegie Hall. I'll likely return when I next have concert tickets.
Had the lunch special with a business associate. We both enjoyed it very much.
I meet my daughter at least once a month in New York City for dinner. She has resisted The Redeye Grill because she is not a fan of seafood. She was very pleasantly surprised with the lobster and crab lasagna which was delicious. The New England clam chowder was as equally amazing. We shared a Boston cream pie for dessert and there were no leftovers. The atmosphere is lively, the staff is very pleasant and personable. The waitstaff were attentive and efficient. We will be back.
Food was good, wine pairing suggestion was good, lobster crab lasagna was a large portion, but tasty, Mac and cheese is very rich, scallops were done perfectly.
Very good food. Very bad singers. Overall I will go back.
We were attending a concert at Carnegie Hall and this restaurant was right across the street from the venue. Great place, great location, great food, great service.
