Red Eye Grill has long been a stand-alone pleasure for "foodies" like ourselves. This past weekend, though, we combined it as a pre-performance venue prior to grand entertainment right across the street at Carnegie Hall. How do we say the "best of both worlds? It was our valentine's date night and it felt special. The staff were very friendly, service was excellent. The price was a little steep but worth the experience. I would certainly go again for a special occasion.
Red Eye Grille is always a treat! The space is beautiful, the service excellent and the food delicious. We came n by chance one cold day and try to get back several times a year when we are in NYC because we know we will not be disappointed!!
I eat here often for brunch before Carnegie Hall. (Though it must be said, the brunch portion of the menu keeps shrinking.) My friend ordered an egg dish and requested them well-cooked, but when they arrived they were runny. He sent it back - the waiter was very apologetic and accommodating. He later returned with the dessert tray, offering my friend his choice - at no charge. We didn't have time to stay, so they boxed up the dessert so he could take it with him. My wife and I went here prior to a concert at Carnegie Hall. We got to the restaurant an hour early and it was cold outside. We have eaten here in the past and the staff has always been attentive to getting the meal served in a timely fashion. This time, the staff, realizing we had extra time, spaced our meal out. Menu variety is deep and nothing we tried on numerous visits was less than excellent. They take classic American and elevate it through quality and consistency . Polished service and a buzzy scene
Felt we got stuck in a corner table near the hostess stand. Prices were way to high for what we got. Overall food was decent, but nothing was included. Not sure why I would pay $50 for a 6oz filet I could get anywhere - it was just plopped on the plate with no garnish or anything.
Nice atmosphere, good food, our server wasn't the the best but it didn't detract from our meal. Desserts are very large potions - definitely for sharing only.
I came here for my birthday dinner with my family. The lobster potato was amazing, and the haddock was delicious. We shared a massive chocolate cake, which I thought tasted great. The only struggle was trying to get some gluten free options for a seafood meal. The waitress was great and accommodating and helped me out a lot with my dietary restrictions, though I wish there were more options.
