We had great expectations for dinner at this restaurant. Unfortunately, they were not met. The crab cake was very lackluster. The fries were cold. The onion rings were the highlight until we had the chocolate cake! It was very good. The wait staff were polite, but had to stop them twice for additional water. It was so noisy, that I could not hear my dinner companion, but could hear the conversations on either side of us.
$18 for 4 fried shrimp dumplings that came out of frozen food box. Had to send one cocktail back; the other was a Manhattan that looked like a bottle of cherry juice. Crab cake burgers - virtually no crab. $38. Fries were good.
Be sure to review your check to be sure nothing is added on! Sadly, our experience was ruined by our waitress.
Waiter made some great recommendations. My husband and I both loved the miso black cod. Perfectly cooked and presented. Dragon roll was amazing! Shrimp dumplings were very good also but some type of sauce would be a great add. I ordered the lump crab cake with grilled shrimp over spaghetti squash. Very disappointed in this dish. Missed seating in the lounge or more private two person seating. Hate the role of two person tables.
WE were constantly interrupted by the waiter and every person working their - Very overcooked fish. All the staff needs major training.
Food came out before cutlery and before drinks. Service was harried. Food quality was mediocre but relative to the price (high) it was awful. Shrimp dumplings tasted like they came from the freezer. Salmon tasted like it was sitting under a heat lamp for too long. Desert tasted like it was purchased from the dry good section of a supermarket. Around the corner from Carnegie Hall which is why we went. Don’t make the mistake we made!
We arrived at 6pm for dinner and told our server that we were making a 7:30 show. Ordered drinks and those didn’t arrive until around 6:30. We ordered dinner at around 6:15. Our first course arrived at 6:50 and was wrong. We told them Tony to bother bringing the first course. Dinner came out at 7:05. We had to rush and eat to leave by 7:20. Never have we had such a poor experience. The dinner was comped but we would have much rather paid for a nice dinner with good service.
Always have enjoyed Red Eye Grill in the past but yesterday afternoon was totally disappointing. Hopefully was just an “off day” but the service was really slow and indifferent, and wait person really killed the vibe for us. Even though the restaurant was not at all busy we still had to resort to waving down a staff three times to get any attention.
