Steaks were poor quality and not hot, baked potatoes were cold, restaurant music was too loud to talk, requested the volume down and it went up. Waiter was incredibly slow and service was poor.

Came for Big Taste. Food was great, didn't serve same options as was listed on Big Taste website so that was confusing. Waiter was mediocre, rarely to check on us often, missed a dessert for one of us so we had to wait. Loved the food but for the service needs to be bumped up a bit

The service and food were good; unfortunately, at the end, we experienced an unpleasant incidence. The hostess entered the wrong table number by mistake and charged us for the next table's food. They explained they could not refund it right away (not an usual/reasonable business practice) since the manager who authorized to do the refund was not there. It ended up we were charged for our own bill and the next table's bill. They said that the charge with the incorrect amount would have to be refunded the next day. No apologie... read more

Have dined at the Saltlick in the past and have had good enough experiences....unfortunately booked this past Wednesday evening for my dad's 75th birthday celebration and would not recommend taking a chance for special occasions at this restaurant. Ambience was great, hostess very pleasant and two of four meals good but the other two came out luke warm and it took three try's to get the food warm. We booked this reservation to celebrate my daughter's birthday, among other things. the Calamari was excellent!!! Our meals were good and steaks were cooked well, however the steaks were smaller than expected, and i did not feel the value was quite there when having to pay in excess of $9 for a side of broccoli. I was hoping for a better experience. If I hadn't known an better I would have thought I was at the keg. The cocktails were delicious but overpriced (welcome to Calgary). The steaks were well selected but over-salted with the sauce on top which adds to the saltiness. Originally they sat us in the middle of the restaurant surrounded by 6 empty tables- we asked to be moved and the accommodated. They kept constantly bringing the wrong food to our table and to others as well. Instead of asking us how we are doing they just came to our table to grab the pepper and a to take an extra chair away. Our steaks were under cooked. We had high expectations for this place but we are highly disappointed instead.

I have to say....I am a Celiac and in this day in age....no gluten free menu?? So our waiter...great guy...but how annoying for me to look at the menu...pick something....he runs to ask about ingredients. Why don't they at the very least teach the staff about what is gluten free and what is not. Most places nowadays have menus either marked what is gluten free OR a separate gluten free menu altogether. Can't say we will ever go back.

Kitchen couldn't keep up with orders and messed up all of our meals. Overdone burger, undercooked steak when asked for medium, oversalted steak. Server wasn't knowledgable about how to handle a gluten sensitivity. Restaurant was very busy with large groups and a party downstairs and I think that made the experience less than optimal.
