AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. I spent a week in this pill mill/scam of a so call hospital in Jan '25 - truly awful place & a disgrace to the profession. I voluntarily walked into Kaiser Emergency on Lawerence Expy, Santa Clara (I pay Kaiser $1,100 per month for coverage) to refill a prescription as I needed some help with a long time Bi-polar condition (40+ years I've been dealing with this so I know the ropes) & got 5150'd over zoom by a phycologist - didn't even get to see a psychiatrist but that's a separate review ... read more
Im currently disputing the financial charges because I feel totally ripped off. I was suffering from severe irritability and anger. My coworkers said I needed help so I called this place from a Google search. I kept asking how much it would cost and they kept reassuring me that my insurance would cover it. I couldn't get a straight answer and the accounting department never returned my emails or phone calls asking how much it would cost. My parents took me to Kaiser Permanente ER, because I was feeling sensations and images of hitting hit on the head with an ax and knives coming out of my eye. As a result of this pain I was feeling suicidal and I needed sleep. My parents took me to the ER so that I could get sleep (so that a health professional could give me a medicine or IV to help me sleep, since I was in pain and hadn't slept in 3 days). The place sucks when it comes to the food, the supplies and the yard, but I think that mostly has to do with poor funding and lack of supplies. The nurses and BHAs in the Redwood unit did their best and tried to help out. The place was less than ideal because it is a psych ward but they tried. Shoutout to the AM and PM BHAs and nurses working at the Redwood unit, they made my first (and hopefully last) experience in a psych ward easier and bearable. If I could leave a zero star review, I would. This place is maybe one step above jail. My son was there for 7 days, never once did the dr. call me to discuss his "treatment." And treatment is stretching it. More like 24 hour sedation. The social worker was always in a rush and didn't have much time to talk to me, either in person or on the phone. so so so so so so horrible and so traumatizing idk how sjbh has not been shut down. abuse, medical malpractice, violence, sexual assault, so much more. I nearly got strangled to death by a roommate and Igot locked in a tiny isolation room for hours even though i displayed no violent or self-injurious behaviours and was and injected with tranquilizer without my or my parents consent . im writing this in 2025 at 4am because this experience was five years ago and Istill have ptsd and nightmares of being trapped here
I was hospitalized for about 2 weeks, noting but yelling and degrading twords us, it's clear that the people who work there do NOT know how to do their job, this is an absolute horrible facility
