I have a pit in my stomach, reading these reviews. I wish I had read them before going all the way to Arizona to spend a month in their greedy hands. They told me 3 times "I was good to go" which meant they had filed for the preauthorization. They made me pay my deductable of over 3,000$. One week later they were scrambling to get me out of there because insurance denied the preauthorization that was submitted 1 day after I arrived. I had to change my round trip airfare. I really don't like giving 1 stars but this place deserves 0 stars for the billing and upper management type personnel. My 19 year old daughter went here and she got most of her treatment from speaking with the other patients. They continually scheduled her for appointments with her PCP and main Therapist on days they didn't work, tell me how are they suppose to know when she can be discharged. Very unprofessional environment. As any negative opinions of the patient population Sierra Tuscon deals with are dismissed as coming from those " who aren't ready to receive help yet", this facility is able to continue its unsafe and toxic practices. The accounting dept is quick to collect payment, while the mental health/ addiction services are unresponsive and real treatment unavailable . Yet again, I try and send a message.... I spent an enormous amount of money for help at Sierra Tuscon. I have reached out to them for after care...They do not care! I called asking for help and their late night phone line was either an answering matching or a complete idiot that had no idea how to help anyone...It is amazing! I even wanted to donate money to help improve their establishment and could not get a hold of anyone with a brain. I went for the pain program, but instead they put me on a different program I couldn't keep up with and then yelled & verbally abused me. Anytime I tried to talk to upper mng I was ignored & they lied to me and my family. You cannot trust this place or the ppl. It's very sad because you can tell at one point it was a wonderful healing place, but since corporate took over everything went to sh#$.

This place was a nightmare and actually pushed me over the edge from mania to full blown psychosis. The staff was awful and anything medication related was a joke. I still have nightmares from what happened there. Thank God I ended up being sent to a legitimate smaller residential program that actually helped in California after a five week stay at ST. Sierra Tucson is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, no doubt. They spare no expense to make their facility and its surroundings look absolutely beautiful and that is one area in which they definitely succeed. Where they don't succeed would be the vast majority of everything else they do. If there's one thing I've learned from my time there, it's that money is and always has been their first and utmost priority. This review is not relevant to the treatment and therapies received, but is about the billing and payment practices of the facility. If you look at the fine print on the financial agreement there is a clause that states that any insurance payments received will be applied to any discounts that the facility gave for the treatment. I was in the ED program for 10 days in 2006. I left AMA because of how terrible the staff was. I did not feel safe or cared for and at times felt downright disrespected. - The former ED director, Dr. Carolyn Coker Ross, was TERRIBLE.
