It's a retreat for public speaking. You pay a lot of money to tell people all about your problems, then listen to everyone else's issues. Many people love the attention & hearing themselves speak. I hated it! I have issues with alcohol. Alcohol makes me crazy, but the staff is also crazy, all on their own, & should not be helping people. Sleeping is difficult. They open the door to your room all through the night to spy on you. They pound on your door at 5:45 am to wake you up. If you have a snoring roommate, well too b... read more

Robert- you point out so many problems that could be behind my awful experience at Sierra Tucson in the fall of 2009. I'm no pharmacist, but luckily I knew enough about medications and the appearance of various generics to catch the nurses on the multiple occasions I was given the wrong medication(s). However, that isn't my primary complaint about this place. I went for treatment of PTSD due to sexual trauma, as well as chronic pain treatment. Their solution was to place me on high doses of oxycontin and xanax (among a bunc... read more

I would give 2 ZERO STARS IF I COULD!!! I went there for chronic pain and major depressive disorder. When I left there 7 days later on the 4th of Sept 2013 I had/ filed a formal grievance against them. I was in the beginning stages of with drawl of my pain meds. ALL OF YOUR NARCOTICS YOU BRING are NOT GIVEN BACK, SO DON'T BRING SQUAT WITH YOU! (I was even told to bring my meds by admissions) The best part was Dr L*****r only gave me 4 Tylenol 3's when I rebuffed his trying to get me to stay. My fentanyl 50 mcg patch (was on ... read more

To anyone reading this: let me give it to you straight from the perspective of a person who has extensively done their due diligence... I consider myself to be a self appointed "expert" in treatment centers for substance abuse and/or eating disorders. If you or a loved one are considering going to Sierra Tucson, PLEASE do yourself a favor, save the money and STAY AWAY FROM THIS HELLHOLE. This place is run by money hungry, incompetent monkeys. 1. All they want is your $$$. I certainly got a glimpse of this when I asked my in... read more

When I went to ST I had a lot of hope. Unfortunately it was more of a vacation, it is beautiful with caring staff but they were way to quick to label me with "disorders" and then just give me medications for those disorders, i left on more substances than I went in on. I just didn't feel I had the opportunity to confront some underlying issues

I still have nightmares about this place. Don't go to Sierra Tucson for an eating disorder. Their ED program is not well developed. There are no ED lectures or discussion groups. So for a month I went to AA, co dependency, and 12 step meetings...UM this is a $50K program and what the hell am I actually paying for? The Sierra Tucson staff as a whole is not sensitive to ED triggers and have no idea how to respect ED patients. Mentally, my eating disorder got worse because of this place. Only thing I got out of treatment, is... read more

This place was absolutely horrid. They advertise themselves as a cure for everything. I went there to handle my grief 3 months after my child died. I was frankly suicidal. I have had a lot of trauma in my life, that I have worked on a lot. I WAS GRIEVING THE VERY RECENT UNEXPECTED TRAGIC DEATH OF MY CHILD. But the idiot intake person decided to pigeon hole me into truama treatment. I had to sit with my grief in groups while people went into elaborate detail about the sexual abuse they had experienced. The food was horrible.... read more

If there are a negative number of stars I can give this place, negative 5 stars would be appropriate. My wife was admitted to that place for trauma and depression primarily for medication changes in a supervised setting. During family week, they made us do a "listwork" exercise where you point out bad behaviors to each other and core feelings. It was a complete disaster and totally inappropriate for someone with her condition. She is now worse off than before she was admitted. The staff completely defended that exercise... read more

I went Sierra Tucson after getting a glowing review from a family friend and psychologist. Boy was I surprised. This place is nothing like it is depicted on their website and much worse they should not even still hold an accreditation from JAYCO. I'm a pharmacist and have been for over 40 years. The pharmacy system there is something out of the 1950's or earlier. The "nurses" dispensing the drugs are from service that hires out such type help- so beware. I had EIGHT (8) major drug dispensing errors on me that I ca... read more
