We really love the staff and facilities here! I have an English Bulldog who are known to have constant health issues. The doc came up with a nice plan of action and even considers the impact on my wallet when deciding the best path to take. When we walk in the door we are always pleasantly greeted by the staff who always recognize my dog, Belle. We have also boarded Belle here too and she's always happy, clean and healthy when we pick her up!

Updating my review since we've been here so much in the last few months. Our dog, Rocky, tore his CCL a few months ago which meant we couldn't take him to his normal boarding facility where he can run around. We were nervous to leave him here since we've had not-so-great experiences at other vets. Fortunately, Southwest treated him wonderfully and he did great. This place is amazing. I took my dog here after going to the affordable clinic on Hageman. The vet was super rude and unprofessional at the affordable clinic (which wasn't really affordable). Anyway, after bringing our baby to SouthWest Vet we are so happy with everything. They talked us through what needed to be done and didn't treat us rudely. We will forsure he coming back here! The staff was amazing !

I took my little dog today for the first time to Southwest Vet Hospital. I was so impressed with them. Yelp did not do my wrong on this rating, thanks everyone! Both receptionists were professional and very kind. The vet assistant spent a lot of time with me in the room. She answered any and all questions I had. The vet himself, was also awesome! The last time my dog had vaccines he screamed after the first shot. Today he got three and he didn't scream once. Also, for the visit, vaccines and test for worms the price was fair... read more

Our family has been bringing our pets here forever; what an amazing team! I know I can make an appointment with any doctor and my pets will still be loved on and cared for. The staff has always been so helpful and I am so grateful! Thanks guys! Shout out to Dr. Love and Moriah, who have been there every step away when a newborn kitten was left on our porch :] He wouldn't have made it without you!

After seeing some of the recent reviews I feel the need to update my review. The care received at Southwest Vet Hospital is still excellent, however they are a small, locally owned business. They are not open 24-hours and are not an emergency clinic. Many of the recent reviews are basically complaining that they were not able to accommodate an emergency first thing in the morning. I've been to their other location (Stiern Vet) and LOVE this location too!! Brought my most recently adopted furbaby here, and was seen by Dr. Love. She's so sweet and gentle (my dog is easily terrified). She spent plenty of time answering questions and concerns, and was definitely worth the trip. To anyone writing bad reviews- don't know if they understand how incredibly busy these two locations are. Bakersfield is growing, and it takes time to catch up on staffing. I took my dog in recently to be put to sleep because she was old and sick. They handled it with grace and were very caring and professional. I am totally impressed with how well they treated us. I will totally take any animal I ever get again here
