I am so disappointed. I have been taking my pets to this veterinarian hospital for over 20 years. My family recently acquired a stray dog that my school aged boys have grown quite attached too. We decided to keep him and name him Scout. We took him to Southwest today for his check up. Unfortunately, there was an accident on South bound 99 and we were 5 minutes late for a 3:30 appointment. I have no complaints about the staff or doctors. I do have issues with people who think it's okay to declaw a cat. If you can't handle their claws then you shouldn't have cats. Declawing to a cat is like ripping your finger off to the first knuckle. It's cruel and should not be done by any doctor. I have no more words for that.

I brought my little dog in for severe itching about 2 was ago. I don't have a lot of money but 120$ later only for my poor dog having no relief at all. The allergist one of the vets there pretty much made me feel like if I don't pay 400$ to find out what Holly is allergic to she probably won't get any relief. I asked twice for a shot so she could get some much needed relief but she told me I had to try these pills for itching first. I never heard of them. They didn't work at all. I have been going here for some time, I was not happy with the office,the doctors or their staff but it was close to my home. After more than a year and several visits I can tell you this, the focus is on money more than care. I have watched the staff try and up sell senior citizens flea meds. People who probably struggle to pay their own bills yet love their animals and make sure to get them to the doctor anyways. Do not use this vet! Staff is rude and does not care about your animals. I am a long time client for both my animals and this morning was turned away with an emergency. I have a very very sick puppy and is bleeding really bad. They refused to even look at him and even went as far as turning me away. They told me that I just need to take him to ER because they can see him right away .... let me add I was at the vet when they opened so it's not like it was late at night. I would like to share the horrific service we experienced at Southwest Veterinary Hospital. In the middle of the night, our yorkie, Charlie became violently ill throwing up and having severe diarrhea to the point he was bleeding from his rear end. Immediately this morning we took him to our neighborhood veterinary clinic, Southwest Veterinary Hospital, as we have take him and our cat numerous times over the course of the last five years. In response to your response to my review. This is not correct: "According to the receptionist notes on your conversation, an appointment the following morning was offered and was declined." I was not offered an appointment the following morning. I was told by the receptionist that your were fully booked when I asked if we could bring Mathew in the next morning. Your receptionist did not report her notes correctly.

Horrible customer service , horrible communication , horrible compassion , horrible schedule management , just awful. Don't waste your time at this vet. My dog has seizures , I moved to Bakersfield last minute and only had a a day of medicine left for him , after calling this vet on a Saturday she assured me she would call me back and set up time for me to come in after she received fax from my vet in LA. No call back, and they are closed Sunday's. I call back on Monday to have my dog be seen and they are booked out until ... read more
